Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paris Karnes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paris, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I’m hoping but being a women in DIY working with power tools and building things with my own two hands, doing “man’s” work, my kids, my two boys, will never grow up thinking a woman can’t do what a man can do. That we are just as strong, smart and capable of doing incredible things.
Paris, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! I’m Paris of ParisAshleyHome, I graduated in Graphic Design, and have been a DIYer for just under two years. After 13 years of Graphic Design and working in Corporate America, I was given the opportunity to DIY and create content full time. Making my own schedule and making an income solely based on my efforts has been the biggest change in my life, but also the most rewarding. I have never been happier in my career then what I am doing right now. I get to remodel my house, flip furniture, do projects for others, all while recording myself, editing these videos and teaching my followers how to do it too in their own homes!
The greatest joy I get from creating content, is getting messages from strangers saying I’ve inspired them to use power tools and complete their own projects!
I’m so very thankful to have the most supportive husband along this journey, while losing my full-time income is not easy on our family, my husband hasn’t once put any pressure on me to go back to Corporate America. He sees the vision and potential of my passion and skills, and with the time and efforts I put in, hopefully I will recover the lost income and more.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
My “clients” are my followers, I’m the type of person that will respond to everyone, I hate having unread messages and that red dot notification. I respond to everyone. And by doing that, I create that friendly loyalty that I am just a normal person and that I care about people. The influencers I’ve taking a liking to the most are the ones, no matter how big they get, will respond to their followers and give advice and that’s the type of person I want to be too!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and mission is first to be able to make up for my lost income from my corporate job, while I am making money, I still have a long way to go. I am also pushing harder on other platforms and not putting all my eggs in the “instagram basket”… by putting my content on all the social platforms includes blogs and long format tutorials, I’m creating the opportunity to grow and increase income from other resources. My second long term goal will be when I “make it” and have to actually hire people to help me do what I do, and to eventually give my husband the opportunity to get out of Corporate America and help manage my finances. He’s a CFO, but his dream is to do contracting work and for us to be able to travel the world and work from anywhere. If I have the ability to help make his dreams happen, all this work will be worth it. He has given me the opportunity to live my dream and I can’t wait to do the same for him.
