We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Parham Shariat a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Parham, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
We wanted to create a name that encapsulated commitment to innovation and sustainable success through collaboration.
We believe in creating and nurturing business synergies and re-evaluating the traditional approaches to creating partnerships.
The name “ReTHINK CNERGY” for our firm was chosen which resonated with our philosophy.
“ReTHINK CNERGY” serves as a mantra for businesses to constantly evolve and improve their collaborative efforts. My goal is to help decision makers rethink their strategies, relationships, and processes to stay competitive and successful.
The first part “ReTHINK” implies a progressive mindset, encouraging everyone to reconsider and adapt their strategies to align with current trends, technologies, and market demands. It also suggests an analytical approach to problem-solving and strategy development. It implies not just accepting the status quo but actively challenging and refining traditional business methods and partnerships.
The second part, “CNERGY,” was a creative play on the word “synergy,” which represents the foundational belief in the power of collaborative efforts and the fusion of different strengths to achieve greater results. It underscores our firm’s focus on fostering productive partnerships and teamwork.
Parham, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a partner in Rethink Cnergy LLC, based in Irvine, California. We develop online solutions for healthcare and the education sector enhanced with artificial intelligence. I am also a strategist and consult other companies on the different aspects of their business.
Over the past two decades, I have lived in several countries and have owned and operated my own startups, as-well-as held c-level positions in multinational firms. This journey has allowed me to learn a diverse array of business cultures, adapt to various market dynamics, understand global business strategies, and develop a keen insight into leading and managing teams across different cultural backgrounds.
As a consultant, my aim is to assist business owners in uncovering the concealed obstacles impeding their progress. This task, though demanding, is immensely gratifying and one I deeply enjoy. It’s like assembling a puzzle, piece by piece.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I was planning to launch a website that required a special expertise. The backend operation of the website was fairly complicated. I had reached out to several companies and I was not successful in finding the right company or person that could create such a site at a reasonable price. Finally, a web developer told me that his friend had the expertise that I was looking for, and he setup a meeting for us. When I first met Mohammad, he came across as a very polite and positive person. He was about 27 years old yet he owned his own company and managed about seven or eight people. His resume spoke highly of his skills, so I immediately hired him and we started building the site. After a few months, I got to know him and his team a lot more and understood that their company mainly worked as a contractor for others, and with all the talent in the company, they didn’t have a product of their own. So, during a meeting, I asked him why he has not built a platform for himself where he can generate income? he said, we always talk about this with my partners and employees, but we are so busy working for others, we have not had the time to build something for ourselves. So I offered him a partnership to build a platform for the healthcare industry. He loved the idea so much that he immediately agreed and we started working together.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I believe in bootstrapping a startup until it generates enough money so an investor sees value in the business.
