Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Papi The Bear. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Papi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My Journey as a comic started in 2017 after a Brain surgery. I was told my life would never be the same doctor told me I would not have use if my left side , my speech would be sluggish and a host of other issues . But through prayer and determination these issues did not come to past so I vowed to my self that I would do everything that I ever wanted to do in life and execute it at a high level needless to say stand up comedy was at the top of the list lol
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got started with 2 of the great Baltimore legends Howard G and Ricky Shackleford . I was introduced to these guys By my cousin Comedian Uncle Black who had been working with G and Shackleford for some time. They gave me a 5 minute slot and I got a standing ovation the first time out and it’s been wheels up ever since . Iv since opened up for comedian such as Comedian Talent a def jam legend , JB Smoove ,Stacy Carver ,Larry Lancaster, Sweet Baby Keeta On to now Headlining my Own Comedy Tour Titled “Politics As Usual” Kicking of July 12th 2023

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Maaaan I can remember doing a show with some heavy hitting comics. I allowed my ego to let me think I can go with out doing my regular show prep and let me tell you I bombed bad. I’m talking booed of stage so much so I just left the building I was so embarrassed but I did not let it stop me I had another show that night and I killed it ! But what that taught me was to stay the path and always. Stick to what works for you don’t allow someone else’s process to Dictate yours
