We were lucky to catch up with Panagiotis Margetis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Panagiotis, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am an actor born and raised in Athens, Greece. Acting had been in my life since my late teens, always as a hobby. I entered University and began studying Business, but after a few years I realised I wanted to actually pursue my passion, I was not fulfilled solely by doing it on the side. That’s when my life basically turned 180 degrees and begun revolving around the craft. Few years later, I split my time between Europe and the US and try to remain as flexible as possible in order to work in both places.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

I think the obvious reward is a good result. When the final “product” lives up to the expectation and you see that the work you put in brought fruition. But that’s thats the obvious. I’m trying to teach myself to enjoy -which is a reward- the process. I believe being an actor can be one of the most romantic professions there are, but you can easily get lost in the day to day hassle, which includes a lot of rejection. Far more “nos” than “yeses” which can be hard to deal with. It’s important to enjoy auditioning, because it’s our main job. Also I love all aspects of it -reading the script, preparing a character, days on set. Not just the “token” which is the final outcome, but every part of the job. It’s all a reward!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

It’s important to me that I keep improving in my art. I always try to educate myself and find sources of inspiration. In this process, I also understand what are the kinds of projects I want to be part of and I navigate towards that. Also, it’s quite easy to get lost in the “business” side of it, so I try to remind myself always what it is that I love about acting and why I chose it in the first place.
