We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pamela Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Pamela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I have many reasons for wanting to become a massage therapist. The primary purpose was to offer a way to give back and connect with women on a wellness & healing level. I know that hardworking, professional women are always on the go, and they rarely take a time out to just ‘be still’. Having worked in the health and wellness profession since the age of 18 I know that a “body in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force”, per Isaac Newton. As a woman, we wear many versatile hats and provide for others more than we take care of ourselves. I wanted to provide a unique atmosphere where women can find comfort, peace, safety, and receive the opportunity to learn about the benefits of massage therapy. I operate in a professional healthcare environment to bring all my client’s a massage experience where they leave feeling relaxed, elevated and renewed through release of tension and freeing their minds.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have embraced our calling and dedicated our focus and attention to practice, studying, and improving our craft. When combining a unique healthcare experience for everyone we encounter with a deep desire to improve the lives of those around us, great things happen. I the owner, Pamela E. Young, am a 2019 graduate of Gwinnett College-Raleigh Campus and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion & Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2002. I have been a licensed massage & bodywork therapist since 2019. I have a true love of people and sincerely believes that everyone I encounter should be treated as if they were family. My passion has been to provide a unique healthcare experience to everyone by providing instructional information by educating them. What sets me apart as a licensed massage therapist is extensive experience in healthcare, including working as a CNA, student athletic trainer, a physical therapy technician, and a registered medical assistant in Orthopedic clinics. Come experience greatness with Blessed from Above Massage, LLC
I provide various massage services to include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Hot Stone, Cupping, Stretching. I also handmake skin care products that includes sugar scrubs, healing balms, anti-aging moisturizer, antibacterial foot spray, soaps, and rejuvenating face serum. I also sell merchandise that includes t-shirts, keychains, and hot or cold rice wraps.
I started this business to always have a way to provide for myself. I have experienced being unemployed and having to rely on other for help, which is something I did not like to do. I have always been the type of person to achieve my own goals through persistent and hard work. I never want to go through a period in my future where I have to ask someone for money, food, or shelter. I was able to live out my life dream of becoming a massage therapist and business owner.
I am most proud of my determination and willingness to fight and never give up on my dreams. I should have started my business while I was still young, however, life has a funny way of preparing you for obstacles.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
There is only one true answer to this question, and that is my trust in God. I am a heavy believer in the Golden Rule, which simply means treating others the way you wish to be treated. If you say you are a certain type of business or individual, but your actions or words prove to be the opposite, it is hard to build trust. I am honored and privileged to have a successful business that profited and gained momentum during pandemic where others had to close their doors. Being faithful to the word and sharing my knowledge with others has made all the difference.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I have learned in the 4 years that I have been in business that I have to be consistent and involved via marketing on social media. I am used to being in the shadows or background getting things accomplished but as a solo entrepreneur I had to create opportunities outside of social media to connect personally with people. I have had the most success reaching new clients through community events that my preferred clients would attend. Once you reach peopel and they see that you are genuine and personable they will share their experience and your business information with those who can also benefit. I have primarily obtained clients from social media apps, word of mouth and handing out marketing materials while running errands.
