We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pamela Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pamela below.
Hi Pamela, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on thus far is my first baby girl nursery. My client had a very minimalist style and harked on the importance of not having too much “extra fluff”. It was also very important to her to have a room that would transform over time as her daughter aged. The main aspect of this project that I still treasure is the fact that I was able to create a space for a person that wasn’t on this side of the world yet. Knowing the room I was curating would stimulate a newborn, in ways she would not be able to explain, meant I had to make sure the convergence of elements and principles of design would support her mental health. While paying careful attention to the aesthetic my client desired, I curated a space with energy to soothe and inspire. A feminine color direction along with natural elements, curvilinear forms and rhythm created the foundation for this sophisticated nursery/bedroom.
My soul is fed when I am able to uplift and inspire those I encounter and developing a space to be motivating, yet comforting, meant the world to me. The guiding principle for Pamela Williams Interior Design (PWID) is inner design through interior design and the benefits that come with being surrounded by an empowering environment.
Pamela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Pamela Williams, creative and lover of all things design! I’ve always been sensitive to people and things that surround me including spaces – their energy throughout and overall vibes. My two favorite interior decorators are my grandmother and mother. These two powerful ladies gave me an introduction to caring about the spaces I live in and how to make one look and feel good. However, I did not jump right into designing spaces after leaving my parents guardianship.
After I earned several business management degrees and was deeply into my finance career, I realized I just wasn’t fulfilled. Being a financial analyst did not satisfy me and what’s worse, my physical environment was not inspiring or conducive to my mental health. For the greater part of my daily life I was stuck looking at numbers in a space with fluorescent lighting only and dingy surfaces, daydreaming about how I could help others in a more satisfying way. In 2013, I finally chose to go back to school and dive into the industry that’s been tugging at my heart and senses for most of my life, Interior Design & the built environment.
With my father being in the military, I grew up frequently moving to new cities and different countries. For me, home is truly wherever I am. I believe this has fostered my cultural foundation and gives me a unique perspective on interior design and limitless creation. My military household also included military style discipline which instilled a serious drive in me. This drive is reflected in my work ethic and desire to do more. If I could make a dollar every time a friend, relative or colleague called me “extra” I’d definitely be rich! I don’t mind it at all, though, because it’s a reminder that I’m on the right track. My extra-ness is what creates an entirely separate lane for me and my design studio. We care about how spaces affect our client’s mental health and use their lifestyle to curate the best solution to empower and promote an elevated quality of life.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals have been the best source of new clients for me and my team. We’re constantly getting leads from friends-of-friends, etc.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a design creative is problem solving and never repeating the same project twice. Taking on a client’s challenge to meet all of their needs, both known and unknown, and actually doing it is one of the most satisfying feelings I’ve experienced in my life. Seeing and hearing about how happy my clients are, and hearing how users of their space brag to them, is always a little reminder from my Higher Power that I’m in alignment with what I’m should be doing.
