We live in a small rural town close to Tulsa Oklahoma. Our local town of Pryor has the largest Rock and Roll music festival in the state on labor day weekend called “Rocklahoma”. Our shop works with production company and put together rock-and-roll-themed flower arrangements for the VIP lounges and tents at Rocklahoma in & are decorated with nearly 100 centerpieces throughout the entire event. Some of us get star struck by performers like Evanescence, Shinedown, Alice Cooper and Three Days Grace to name a few. Our arrangements consist of skulls, red roses, succulent arrangements, and much more! This kind of exposure for a small business is life changing and we get so much publicity from local news networks and organizations giving huge shout outs for our creativity and floral designs.

Pamela, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

In High School I did a horticulture and floral design class not knowing how much I would fall in love with the industry. I dabbled in floral design for 7 years after High School then changed careers. Shortly after Covid-19 I decided to purchase a local flowershop in my home town and call it Pryor Flowers. I have owned it for 3 years now and have done weddings, music events, pop up events, and much more! My field is always changing. From a dozen roses, to mugs and tumblers with florals, there is always something new to dive into. Each customers are needs are different so we offer a wide variety of styles and flowers. We do lots of social media postings, videos of our work and even some fun tips and tricks on TikTok!

Have you ever had to pivot?

Yes, in 2021 I decided to quit my job as an insurance agent and following my dream of being a floral designer and a small business owner.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Our shop was previously owned and was in business for 27 years so it has a great reputation and a large customer base. As well as inventory and building location is downtown off main street.
