Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pamela Webster. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pamela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the early days of establishing your own firm. What can you share?
After almost 26 years of being the in the title real estate industry, I have always worked under someone else. At the ripe old age of 53, I am opening my own title agency. After working in the industry so many years. Believe it or not the hardest part for me was finding office space. The one thing I would have done differently is opened up sooner. But, I also think everything is done in God’s perfect timing. So, I am grateful for this time. And to anyone looking to start a title agency. I would say know the roles of each department. Make sure you are knowledgable of the business you are operating.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into real estate at the age of 28. My sister Alicia Norman was a real estate agent at the time. And she knew I was looking for a different career. I applied for a job as a post-closer with a title agency here in Memphis, Within 6 months I was a closer. The job just clicked with me. A year or so later, I was promoted to Office Manager. And from there I became an Independent Settlement Agent. As an Independent Settlement Agent I developed my own client base. I closed the actual real estate transaction, signed the clients up and disbursed all proceeds from that transaction. I help families to get ownership of a property if there is a deceased loved one. I provide knowledge to anyone I can regarding taking title to their property. I think what sets me apart from many is I have a genuine heart and love for people. One of the things I am most proud of is being in a position to help others. That includes with real estate and with the scholarships myself and my husband, Cedrick Webster provides twice a year to the less fortunate. So, if you see #CLOSEWITHPAM anywhere, that is me! And I’m grateful!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One thing that illustrates my resilience is a medical issue I had back in 2009. In 2009, I had a TIA as I was getting dressed for work. I was rushed to the emergency room. As an MRI was being conducted for that, it was discovered that I had a cyst on my pituitary. I was told I had to have surgery immediately. Once the surgery was performed I had a lot of recovering and therapy to do. I could not speak or walk properly for a while. I could not work for quite a while after this. But, I knew God had me in this season for a reason. As I was going through, I trusted Him wholeheartedly. When I healed I did not really have any clients, because they had to be able to handle their business when I couldn’t. I stayed the course over the years. And here I am now opening my very own Independent Title Company, Excel Title & Escrow LLC.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped me build my reputation is I treat every client as though they are family. I am going to make sure you understand every document that you sign. And if there is something after the fact, even if it’s years later, I will make sure you get the same service.
