We recently connected with Pamela Nova and have shared our conversation below.
Pamela , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
When I became a small business owner, it was back in the height of the pandemic. I had so many creative ideas building up inside me, and I wanted to find a way to safely bring people joy and beauty—something that still allowed for social distancing. That’s when the idea for luxury picnics came to me. I realized I could design and set everything up, then step away while people enjoyed a curated experience. I invested around $700 to get started, and within the first month, I made my first $3,000. That early success gave me the motivation to keep going and take it seriously as a business. I even started receiving bookings from high-profile clients for picnics.
I’ve been creating since 2017, but in 2023, I really started taking it seriously. I became more intentional with my content, especially photoshoots. I’ve always had a vivid imagination, and now I bring those ideas to life by building full concepts from start to finish. From styling outfits and scouting locations to modeling and directing the overall vibe, I use myself as the vessel to display my art. I also create video content—short films, reels, and skits—where I get to play with editing, storytelling, and stepping into different characters. Even while in grad school for social work, I knew I had to make space for my creativity. Focusing more on creative work isn’t just a hobby—it’s part of who I am.
My content has gained more traction, from a few hundred views to over 76,000 profile views. What started as an idea sparked by discovering a form of self-expression has become a space where I can bring my visions to life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For those who may not know me, my journey into the creative world began back in 2017 when I started posting YouTube videos and content on Instagram, X, and Facebook. That experience gave me a real understanding of how to market myself and find my space as both a creator and an entertainer. When it comes to my decorating business, the inspiration came from my long-standing love for interior design, décor, and vintage aesthetics. I’ve always been drawn to event planning, interior styling, and the beauty of details—so launching luxury picnics gave me the perfect opportunity to bring all of that together. I get to work with wood pieces, beautiful silverware, and thoughtfully curated decor while also mastering the art of aesthetic presentation.
Today, I offer services such as party décor, luxury picnics, and content creation for both my brand and clients. Whether it’s a visually stunning picnic setup or a photo concept brought to life or short films, everything I do is driven by my love for creativity. I also work as a creative director for myself and also freelance on the side. I am an artist, to put it into simpler terms. What sets me apart is my passion for the craft and the perspective I bring. With years of experience in customer service, I’ve learned to think from all angles—the client’s, the team’s, and the business’s. I care deeply about how things look, but even more about how they feel.
In addition to creative directing and designing sets, I model and style myself for all of my projects. I’ve had the chance to collaborate with a photographer whose style leans toward high-end editorial and commercial fashion, which has pushed me creatively and professionally. I’ve also worked closely with makeup artists to help bring each concept to life in a polished, expressive way. On top of that, I regularly model for a licensed esthetician who partners with a high-profile skincare line, allowing me to blend my love for beauty and visual storytelling in a really unique way.
What I’m most proud of is how passionate and excited I am about doing the things that I love. I’ve pushed myself to bring my creative visions—and the life I want—to reality. I’ve stayed committed to learning, growing, and creating, even when things weren’t easy. For anyone who supports my work, I want them to know that I give my all to everything I do, and I personalize everything I do. I’m always learning, always evolving, and I approach every detail with intention. I am a student of the arts. I also care deeply about social issues, and I see advocacy as a key part of who I am, not just as a business owner, but as a person.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is that it gives me a healthy and meaningful outlet to process emotions. Creating allows me to express myself in ways that words sometimes can’t, and it gives people a chance to connect with who I am on a deeper level. Art truly feels like my form of spirituality, it’s my religion—it’s something that pours out of me naturally. I see art in everything. Seeing an idea that once lived in my mind come to life in real time makes me feel empowered, confident, and deeply fulfilled.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During my first year of graduate school, I had an internship as an academic advisor. I spent two weeks training for a specific program, learning all the ins and outs and preparing for my caseload, only to be told the day before we started that I’d be assigned to a completely different program: Contemporary Arts. At first, I was thrown off, but when I met my students, everything shifted. These young adults were passionate, creative, and unapologetically driven. Listening to them speak about their goals made me realize I had been suppressing my own creative dreams—dreams I had once buried because I didn’t think they were “practical.”
That realization was a turning point. I was working, interning 21 hours a week, and balancing the demands of being a full-time student. I was completely burned out, mentally and emotionally drained, and ready to quit. But after some deep reflection, I reminded myself of who I am: someone who finishes what they start. So I stayed. I finished the program, earned my degree, and promised myself that once I crossed that stage, I would give my dreams everything I have. And I will. Knowledge is power. I’m taking everything I’ve learned and using my social work skills to pour into something bigger. As I dive deeper into the entertainment industry, at the core of my approach, I will be showing up for advocacy, pushing back against racial inequalities, and calling out the misrepresentation of people of color. This degree isn’t just a piece of paper—it’s a reminder of what I’m capable of. I want to help shift the narrative, uplift voices that don’t always get heard, and create space for real change in the places that inspired me in the first place.
