We recently connected with Pamela Neighbors and have shared our conversation below.
Pamela, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
My husband and I knew we wanted to start a new business. Coming up with the name wasn’t easy, lots of different names were written down but nothing that was catchy. Then one day my husband said he had visited a place called The Office. It was a bar / resturant in the Dallas metroplex area. He suggested we use our name the same way that The Office had, and call the winery “Neighbors Place”. Where neighbors and friends gather with the twist of having an alibi. Where have you been?…. over at the NEIGHBORS PLACE! Not only is it our business name but it’s our last name, Pamela & Chuck Neighbors.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
It all started during COVID. My husband and I were visiting surrounding wineries and soon realized how much we loved wine, the culture, lifestyle, and the ambiance each winery had. We both looked at each other at the same time and said to one another, we could do this. We already had friends in the wine industry, so we approached them for advice. Everyone in the wine community was so welcoming, and with every question we had they were so forthcoming to help us succeed. At the same time, my brother and his wife were considering selling their property in the small town of Bonham, Texas and convenitly located 1 block southwest of the town square. They sold us the property in June of 2021. I retired from my job after working 13 years for the State of Texas. We immediately began renovating the old 1920’s style house into the tasting room. Within 6 months in December of 2021, we opened our doors to welcome our family, friends, and neighbors.
We offer wide range of Dry Red & White Wine, Sweet Fruit Wines, and Sweet Table Wine. We also offer charcuterie, flatbreads and wide variety of small bites. Al this in a charming, historic building that feature some of the original plank walls and beams from the 100-year-old original section of the building. We used reclimed trailer wood for the floors, salvaged railcar wood for the bar top, barn wood for walls, cabinets, and many other things. We made use of the old living room and bedroom as indoor lounge areas with couches chairs and coffee tables. Outside we have several covered patios, yard area, and a fenced Dog Park.
Some of our most popular and best-selling wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Sweet Elderberry Wine. We are most proud of creating a space for our family, friends, neighbors, and all the new people while they enjoy their favorite wines with us.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Several things all add up to this. Being honest, hardworking, present (Be Where Your Feet Are), dependable, sticking with what we believe in, having a plan, and goals. Hard work will always yield success in our minds. We are big believers in manifesting the future you want.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Working 7 days a week, being there when new customer comes in the doors, making sure they are greeted how anyone wants to be greeted. My husband and I are almost always both there or for certain 1 of us. We don’t get many days off or time away due to a small staff. So, making that 1st impression and making sure our staff makes the same 1st impression, is so very important. Having a clean, fun, and warm atmosphere that has a simple message, that never changes keep people coming back, and makes them want to spread the word.
