Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pamela Moidel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pamela, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my personal drawing journal—a small sketchbook I began in 2021 & have taken with me on travels around the world. It’s a sacred space where I capture my experiences through drawings & words, reflecting my ever-evolving reality.
This journal holds profound significance for me in multiple ways. It has become a vital part of healing my relationship with art. Over the years, perfectionism had stifled the joy of creating, but this journal is about embracing the process rather than focusing on the final product. It’s a sanctuary for unfiltered expression.
Equally meaningful, this sketchbook serves as a personal diary, documenting the peaks and valleys of the past few years. Each page holds profound insights & wisdom gained through my journey. It’s a private space, reserved for my eyes only—unless I choose to intentionally share it. I’ve included one of its pages in the photos.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! I’m Pamela—a passionate lifelong artist turned professional graphic designer & illustrator, based in Los Angeles. Beyond my love for art & design, I’m fueled by music (Bob Moses!), festivals (Burning Man!), dogs (chihuahuas!), & exploring the world (most recently, Guatemala!). I’ve always known that art is my calling, & drawing remains one of the few activities that effortlessly brings me into a state of complete flow—present & at peace.
I began freelancing in high school, & for the past 11 years I’ve had the privilege of creating everything from brand identities & album covers, to packaging & advertising, with a particular passion & focus on illustration. I specifically love creating visuals for interactive mediums like shirts, stickers, music streaming platforms, & even business cards—there’s a unique magic in feeling my artwork come to life in the world.
My art style is distinct yet versatile, ranging from quirky to refined, & always full of character. I’m naturally drawn to creating expressive, high-contrast works. I particularly love creating humanoid figures—faces, hands, & contorted bodies. In many ways, each figure I draw, especially in my personal work, is a self-portrait.
What I feel sets me apart in my field is my ability to listen deeply to my clients & translate their vision into something both effective & compelling. Deep listening is a central theme in all areas of my life. The collaborative relationships I build with clients are what I’m most proud of in my work, where we craft something that’s not just visually beautiful but also meaningful & impactful.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In my professional art & design practice, the greatest reward lies in the creative partnership with my clients. There’s a unique fulfillment in co-creating a vision that resonates with both of us, where I have the privilege of bringing it to life through my personal vision, skill, & style.
In my personal work, the most fulfilling aspect is the deep immersion in the creative process itself. It’s in these moments of flow—when time disappears & pure expression takes over—that I create pieces that reflect my innermost process in the purest form.
And of course, there’s something special about creating an end product that I can proudly showcase, wear, or see out in the world. Nothing beats the feeling of wearing a shirt with my design on it!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is a mission to reconnect with the pure instinct & emotion that first ignited my passion for art as a child. I aim to fully integrate that raw, unfiltered creativity into every aspect of my personal & professional work. The more I align with my natural creative flow, the greater depth & authenticity I can bring to every project. I believe that the deeper I connect with myself, the more I can connect with others—creating meaningful, impactful work. Through this alignment, I feel my art and freelance practice will evolve organically, allowing me to offer even greater value to those I collaborate with.
Also, my goal is to create funky, interesting, cool art that the world can’t help but feast their eyes on!
