We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pamela Karpelenia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Pamela, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

From a very young age I’ve always enjoyed the Performing Arts. I’ve been acting on stage since I was 5 and I competed through high school and college and acting, speaking, debate and Improv. By the time I got through high school before I graduated, I knew I wanted to do theater in some way. I majored in theater education and Performing Arts with a focus and operatic voice and I worked professionally for many years. I started my business the murder mystery plays of Casa Grande in 2018.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I own the murder mystery players of Casa Grande. It is a small Performing Arts Theater Company. We perform original and hilarious Murder Mystery Dinner Theater shows across the State of Arizona. We provide entertainment and our fall and spring debuts and also do private events and large-scale events like Phoenix Fan Fusion and Tucson Comic Con

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My professional goal with this theater company is to do shows throughout the entire year. Right now we do approximately two debuts a year and we schedule in private events and our large scale events. I would like to have the opportunities for my actors to work every single month performing for audiences all across the state and even the country.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Starting this company was definitely not an easy beginning. We’ve had adversaries and people with ill intentions in our way from the beginning. It took a lot of resilience to pivot from people that we thought we could trust to relying more on ourselves and be more of a self-reliant company and keep our group small and performances big.
