Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pamela Grandison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Pamela “Pam” Grandison and I am a graphic designer and creative strategist. I graduated from Trinity Christian College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication and a minor in Graphic Design. I got into the graphic design industry over 15 years ago. My mother, Linda Jackson, owned and operated a desktop publishing business that I spent several summers working and learning from her. I launched Typo Nerd in 2008, it was formally known as 2911 graphics. I rebranded into Typo Nerd – the name stemmed from my love of Typography. Typo Nerd is dedicated to fulfilling its mission of ensuring small businesses are represented by building big brands. We specialize in creating unique graphics, digital marketing, logo design, content creation and a variety of other marketing and promotion strategies. Typo Nerd loves to help build and foster the culture and aesthetic of businesses and organizations. I’m most proud of being able to take a client’s vision and dreams and turn it into tangible designs.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe having a high level of professionalism, open communication, and quality execution with my clients has helped me build and maintain my reputation within the industry. You can be the greatest designer, greatest marketer but what people remember at the end of the day is how your business treated them. Impressions matter more than we think. I cannot cater to businesses and not provide a quality experience to match my work.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson I had to unlearn was thinking I’m not good enough for this industry. Re-working your mindset is not a small or easy task. But once you learn to push past your own insecurities, you realize just how much this industry needs your creativity and unique abilities. Affirmations, daily motivation videos, mentorship and support helped me reframe my mindset. Now I’m unstoppable.
