We were lucky to catch up with Pamela Friedman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Pamela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

My life purpose is fueled by my personal challenges and is my driving force behind CV Skinlabs. My mission is to provide everyone healthy, nourishing and restorative skin care that safely and effectively works to regain optimal skin health, and delivers beauty…without compromise.

I hope to have made a difference in the lives of others – helping all people, no matter what gender, age and skin type, including those with ultra-sensitive skin and those going thru medical treatments, reclaim healthy and beautiful skin, imparting comfort, and confidence in skin; and helping advocate for change by raising awareness and eliminating exposure to toxic chemicals and other harmful exposures that can lead to profound health impacts. I’ve been committed to show how harsh chemical ingredients can harm the skin, while revealing the risks of certain ingredients that can lead to skin sensitivities, premature aging, or worse. Some ingredients (like parabens) have even been linked to cancer. I do all we can to inform our customers of these dangers and help them make healthier choices. Our award-winning products are highly acclaimed and regularly recommended by dermatologists and doctors, and it’s also common to receive emails from customers – sharing their experiences with the products and thanking us for providing life-changing solutions for them. I hope this will continue on as my legacy.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a beauty industry veteran, entrepreneur, cancer survivor, and the CEO of CV Skinlabs, a solutions-based skincare brand with a health and medical approach to beauty. We use only 100% safe ingredients to create clinically proven formulas that produce transformative results. We are well known for our consistent high standards of safety and efficacy, specializing in providing solutions that cater to those with a variety of skin concerns and conditions.

All our products were created with research-driven innovation, and with an emphasis on holistic solutions.  They were made with medical-grade skin-nourishing, healing, and antioxidant-rich actives that are organic, non-irritating, and free of chemical toxins, and unnecessary additives.

I built my career as a senior executive working for a variety of well-known beauty corporations. With decades of experience under my belt, I eventually started my own company, helping other businesses in the beauty and wellness sector with strategy, product development, manufacturing, and distribution.

It was while working with a large beauty and pharma contract manufacturer for many years that I learned about ingredients, skin care, and how the products were made and marketed by both small and large companies. I also witnessed the use of questionable ingredients, some potentially harmful and toxic.

This was concerning to me because both my husband and I suffered from serious illnesses. My husband battled cancer for 13 years and it caused him many difficult skin issues. I suffered from an autoimmune disease that left me with chronic dry and dull-looking skin and hair and then shortly before my husband passed away, was surprised to receive a cancer diagnosis of my own….and still experience skin immunity issues long after treatment.

During that time, I became keenly aware that in our world today, we are exposed to more toxins and chemicals than ever before. They’re in our food, water, air, and personal care products, which most of us use multiple times a day for years. There is also evidence showing that serious health issues—including cancer and other diseases like diabetes, autoimmune conditions, and even certain skin disorders—are often related to our exposure to toxic chemicals.

Knowing this, I changed our diet and looked for chemical-free options for just about everything, including skin care. Unfortunately, I found that many products targeted for “sensitive skin” actually irritated our fragile skin. Plus, I was surprised to discover that some of the doctor-recommended products for medically treated skin were full of petroleum-based ingredients, carcinogens, hormone disruptors, and other potentially harmful chemicals. Skin and especially sensitive skin challenged by health and environmental issues—requires delicate treatment with extra care and nurturing. I had watched my husband’s body and skin ravaged by the disease, including chemotherapy and radiation treatment, and then I experienced the same. We both needed hydrating, soothing, safe solutions without harsh or toxic chemicals, fragrance, and irritants – to help heal our fragile skin, but we had a hard time finding them. It made me even more determined to pursue my passion for health and holistic wellness in the beauty industry.

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in holistic wellness.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I have overcome many business challenges over the years, including restructuring, cash flow/inventory gaps, supply chain issues, and changing requirements in the workplace and marketplace due to Covid. It requires hard work and discipline, adhering to a lean budget and operating infrastructure to keep the company on solid footing and with a positive cash flow. And then there was my personal life. I’ve had to be resilient not only by adapting to these ever-changing dynamics in my industry, but I was also running my company through many years of caretaking and my own cancer treatments. My husband and I had cancer at the same time at one point, while my battle was intense but relatively short, my husbands was long, heartbreaking. Many times, I was in crisis-mode or working from hospital rooms.  Even though I know firsthand what treatments and medical issues do to skin, I was also able to talk with nurses and doctors about what other patients were going thru and share the restorative and healing virtues of CV Skinlabs for their patients.  (Our products are also sold in the hospital market). All of us survivors, and those going thru grief go through a kind of rebalancing. I ultimately found the most strength by sharing and helping others, which provides me with a huge sense of fulfillment and even after the devastating loss of my husband, I still have unwavering passion, purpose, and mission to help others, and it’s where I was able to develop the grit needed to persevere, even through the tough times.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Motivated by own experiences within the beauty industry and with life-threatening conditions, medical skin challenges and reactive unpredictable skin, I became dedicated to advocating for wellness and beauty and skin confidence, without compromising health.

CV Skinlabs was born out of a need for non-toxic, safe, non-irritating, and truly effective skincare solutions for those with extremely dry, dull, and sensitive skin.

As I mentioned before, cancer was the catalyst.
