We were lucky to catch up with Pamela Boyd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Pamela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Premier Diamond Event Agency was really born out of passion, experience, and a deep desire to create meaningful, memorable moments. For years, I found myself naturally stepping into the role of planner — for family gatherings, weddings, and celebrations — and I realized that I genuinely loved the process of bringing people’s visions to life. But what really pushed me to turn that passion into a business was seeing how stressful event planning could be for so many people. Even the most joyful occasions can become overwhelming when you’re trying to manage all the moving parts. I wanted to change that.
I remember one particular event that sparked it all — I had helped a family member plan her wedding, and seeing her completely at peace on the day of, knowing everything was handled, lit something inside me. That’s when I knew this was more than just a hobby. It was something I was meant to do.
When I started Premier Diamond Events, I envisioned an agency that didn’t just plan events but crafted experiences. I wanted clients to feel that every detail — from the color palette to the guest experience — reflected their personality and story. What excited me most was the opportunity to blend creativity and precision: to take someone’s dream and design it with elegance, structure, and heart.
I also recognized a gap in the industry for event management that felt both professional and personal. So many companies could do one or the other — either they were polished but impersonal, or warm but lacking structure. I wanted Premier Diamond to be that perfect balance — a brand built on excellence, relationships, and unforgettable experiences.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
With over 15 years in the meetings and events industry, I’ve gained extensive knowledge and hands-on experience that have shaped me into the professional I am today. I began my career with association event management which allowed me the opportunity to provide my own resources to grown independently. I’ve also used these years to continue education within the field and gain many new clients through networking and traveling.
I’m a creative and entrepreneurial thinker with a background in supporting executive teams, managing complex projects, and driving strong internal communications.
I’ve always been a strategic problem-solver — someone who thrives on finding solutions and leading teams in diverse environments. Adaptability and collaboration are at the core of how I work. I take pride in seeing projects through from concept to completion, ensuring every detail reflects excellence.
Over the years, I’ve built a well-rounded skill set in event planning, program management, marketing, project development, and social media. More than anything, I’m passionate about creating experiences that bring people together and leave lasting impressions.
My goal is to inspire our audiences by seamlessly blending esthetics with meaningful moments, creating gatherings that leave a lasting impact and empowering individuals to become who they aspire to be. I craft unforgettable experiences that celebrate and elevate. I want to activate, connect, and uplift through meticulously planned events and meetings, fostering a community where every person’s story takes center stage.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Funding Premier Diamond Event Agency was truly a labor of love and faith. When I decided to start the business, I didn’t have investors or a large pool of capital to draw from — I started with what I had, and I made every dollar count. I used personal savings, took on a few small side projects, and reinvested every bit of profit back into the business to help it grow.
In those early days, it was all about being resourceful — finding creative ways to make things look high-end without overspending, building strong vendor relationships, and focusing on delivering exceptional service that would lead to word-of-mouth referrals. That approach not only kept my startup costs manageable but also established Premier Diamond’s reputation for
excellence and attention to detail.
Looking back, starting small was one of the best things that could have happened. It forced me to be strategic, intentional, and hands-on with every part of the business. I learned to build from the ground up — brick by brick — and that foundation of discipline and creativity still drives how we operate today.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes, my side hustle absolutely grew into my full-time business — and it’s been an incredible journey. I actually started with balloon designs. What began as something small and fun quickly became something much bigger. I used to create balloon arrangements for family gatherings, baby showers, and small events — just for the joy of it. People loved my work, and before long, I started getting requests from friends of friends, then referrals from people I didn’t even know. Even celebrity clients. That’s when I realized I had something special.
Over time, the balloon décor side of things opened my eyes to the broader world of event design and management. Clients started asking if I could handle more aspects of their events — from décor and planning to full production. That curiosity and demand led me to expand, learn, and ultimately create Premier Diamond Event Agency. The transition felt very natural because I was already doing what I loved — just on a larger scale and similar to by professional background with association event management,
Some of the biggest milestones were landing my first large-scale event, building my first vendor partnerships, and rebranding from a balloon business to a full-service event agency. Each step taught me something new about creativity, leadership, and client experience. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how something that started with a few balloons and a big imagination has grown into a company that helps clients celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives.
