We recently connected with Pam Weiser and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Pam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer?
I was working a full time W2 job when COVID hit, and I wanted to do something to keep my brain going, instead of watching TV or painting rocks, when we were quarantined, so I reached out to friends and family to ask if anyone had any projects or work that needed to be completed. I had a couple of takers (a friend who is a photographer and a friend who worked for a non-profit). I ended up doing the part time side gig for about 6 months, and then lost my W2 job, took another job that didn’t work out and decided to take my business full time and here we are.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the owner of Be The Wiser, LLC, and I am your Go To Operations Expert, providing Done For You Services. I partner with businesses to help them bridge the gap and scale effectively and efficiently. I focus on productivity and profitability with systems that support their growth, at whatever stage of growth their in. I turn chaos into order and help business owners work ON their business instead of in it.
I create and implement business systems and processes, oversee and manage projects and help overwhelmed business owners to delegate tasks, so that they can free up time in their schedules, save money, lower their stress, increase their efficiency and get back to focusing on what’s most important – building their business.
I do a lot of:
• CRM implementation and migrations
• creating of standard operating procedures
• digital document management and organization
• website refresh
• market research
• event management
• HR related tasks
• recruiting assistance
• and so much more…
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the Summer of 2022, I was living in the Bay Area, in California, and my I had just taken my business full time in January of 2022, with no capital. I discovered that I wasn’t able to afford to live in my $2700 per month apartment and grow a new business, so I packed up my belongings and put them in storage. I ended up staying in friends homes in CA, WA and CO until I was able to afford to come up with a deposit to move back out onto my own. I am forever grateful to the friends who supported me during this very scary time in my life.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most of my clients have come to me via referrals from very happy current or former clients. I’m grateful for them passing the word along.
