We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pam Harig. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pam below.
Hi Pam, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
First of all I want to give my definition of ” Success”… For me success is when I am satisfied with what I am doing and the work I earn my money with, gives me inner peace. When I feel this, I am successful in my world….
And my work and life experience is:
If I enjoy my work and give the best I can do, I will always earn the money I need to live a happy life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My whole life is based on creativity and craftsmanship, I have been born like this and could not avoid it because it simply flows out of my hands. To touch materials, textures and see how things should be placed, shaped, put together or modified was always something that happened in my mind and my hands express it.
No matter if it is wood, stone, metal, clay, paint or fabrics….I love to touch all of it, but by chance I got hooked with metal, fire and precious stones. When I started my aprentencship I didn’t have any experience with metal, but fixing my motorbike…
I fell in love at once when touching the first time precious metals like gold and silver. there where no more questions left about my future profession…
It is an incredible beautiful connection of design, creativity and craftsmanship that offers you the work as a goldsmith.
Then another aspect joined which I wasn´t aware of in the beginning….the synergy between me and the clients working on bespoke jewelry.
So I learned to provide the client my skills as a master craftswomen, but also to connect to their wishes and ideas, somehow their personality, to implement it into a jewel.
As every jewel has a special history in advance, like marriage, birthdays, anniversary, changes in life, graduations, important step stones…I like it very much to create the perfect piece for the person and moment.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
A very important point is: You can not force creativity.
You can gain a certain experience, a kind of routine to design and create, but I can not push myself to have a great design idea or develop a special piece whenever I want to.
When you force it, it will always be a nice piece, because of my professional experience, but very unlikely it will be a real masterpiece in all senses.
I often ask my clients to make me the gift and give me time to design and create. So I can do the best for them…

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. I want to see happy faces. When I get the feedback of an happy couple picking up their wedding rings, knowing I am somehow part of their love-story , that is a great motivation for me.
