We recently connected with Pallavi Cherukupally and have shared our conversation below.
Pallavi, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The first life changing risk that I took was leaving a job with the faith that I would obtain one that I truly wanted. Growing up in an Indian household, it was taught to be safe in decisions and dont leave a job without having another lined up. At the time I had been through all the schooling, then 4 years of residency, and then a hospital job for almost 3 years. It was not what I wanted to be doing for the forseeable future. I took a leap of faith, applied to fellowships in what I truly wanted to do and quit my job with nothing on the horizon. The thought was leap despite the fear.
Pallavi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Indian and got into the industry despite my parents wishes. Traditionally Indian parents want their kids to become doctors, however, my father did not. he would have preferred me going into business. I chose to go into medicine since it seemed the right fit for me and over the last 15 years I have evolved my role into ways that can actually make a difference in peoples lives rathar than traditional medicine. I specialize in Regenerative Medicine with Stem Cell and PRP. I have also deveoped an interest in anti-aging and longevity medicine that can help people optimize their health so they live long and much healthier lives. I am most proud of thinking outside the box and developing a specialty that makes sense to me rathar than follow the crowd with traditional medicine.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I orginially started this business as an out of network and cash pay only business. However, after 6 months, I realized that there were some limitations to this so we transitioned into and in-network system, but mostly cash pay so we get the best of both worlds and can help all people.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped our reputation the most is that we are not traditional, we give our clients the time they deserve in their appointments and really listen to what their issues are. In the traditional office you may get about 5 minutes with the doctor. In our office we set aside 30 minutes with me and often spend more than that on our initial visit so I get get a full picture of what the issues are.
