Alright, Paley & Erik thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The type of legacy we are trying to build is to not only show our future kids one day that anything is possible. But for my husband and business partner Erik’s family, he saw his parents grow and start their very successful cleaning business. With that determination, he wanted to start his own. I have always wanted to be my own boss, and we have achieved this together. I want our kids and siblings to see that you can do anything. Plus I want Carmona’s Chamoy name to carry on and in stores worldwide.
Paley & Erik, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We own a chamoy business in Kansas City. We sell chamoy, chamoy candies and agua frescas. We do pop-up events and finished last year with 55 events done in less than eight months. We started shipping out to the whole country in mid-2022 and have had the pleasure of shipping to over 30 states so far. We have also been able to get into over 10 restaurants ranging from KS-MO-CA.
We have never felt so blessed with the support we have gotten from everyone. What sets us apart is everything. From the smallest thing in a different logo/color scheme. But also with the smiles and happy faces we give people when we present our product. It was not something that happened overnight. And although we feel like it’s been a tornado of success, we have been blessed to be as far as we are. We are forever grateful for everything and everyone.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
We sell Chamoy; mango, original, watermelon, and our exclusive flavor hibiscus. Hibiscus is one of our unique items that no one else has. We are planning to release three more flavors by the end of 2023. At pop-up and private events, we sell Agua frescas.
We got started in a unique and funny way. I was scrolling through TikTok. And I noticed it, and I was like hmm, I can do this. That was December 2021, just before New Year’s. We took it over to a party at his parents, and they fell in love. I started to tweak everything so it was my recipe and boom, we were born!
We have come a long way in such a short time. We would love to move forward and have a mobile bar by the end of the year. Or at the very least, make a mobile cart.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would say the most effective way to grow your clientele is word of mouth. As people start to talk about your product and see you at the events. It will grow. One of our biggest things and making everyone feel welcomed and that they see we are a real face. I think people take to something like that. That we are just ordinary people behind the business.
