Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paige White. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paige, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
One of the reasons I started KC Cocktail Company is because I don’t enjoy my own parties most of the time. What do I mean by that?
I truly love hosting parties and having people over, and the more the merrier but the problem with that is I spend the whole time running around making sure everybody has a drink and food and everybody is happy. I am an empath so I am constantly feeling other peoples energy and I never want anyone to be uncomfortable.
With that being said, I thought one way to eliminate any stressors on my hosts when I work a party is to make sure that they never have to worry about the bar and the bar experience. They can always know that their guest are being taken care of!
My value statement is to make sure that my hosts look like superstars and to actually allow them to enjoy the party!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
About me: After 27 years in the restaurant business, and stepping away for a while, I just couldn’t get the food and beverage industry out of my bones.
Caring for my guests over the years was something I was exceptional at, and I truly love being creative, so starting KC Cocktail Company was a perfect fit to allow me to use both of these strengths.
KC Cocktail Co. is a unique mobile bartending experience, and our goal is to take the stress off of our hosts so they can be the superstar of their event and enjoy the party!
Problem I solve: KC Cocktail Company helps to elevate the bar and bar experience so that our hosts can be hands off and look like superstars. We want to eliminate any need for our hosts to have to worry or get involved in the bar at all. We want their guests to have amazing memories of the bar and the beautiful, delicious craft cocktails that we specialize in making and serving.
What sets us apart: Our customer service is top notch and the craft cocktails we create and serve offer a unique twist on the traditional bar.
I am most proud of: The brand that I have created and when people talk about KC Cocktail Co they talk about how we made them feel special and our drinks were beautiful and were like nothing they had before. As well, I take an enormous amount of pride in going above and beyond to make my clients vision come to life.
In my first 6 months I won an award with KC Engaged for Best Bar!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Prior to starting KC Cocktail Company, I owned a completely different type of business and did a 180 from where I was in that position.
I was very successful in my career but was not fulfilled and was unable to move the business forward as I desired to do, as I was one of three owners which made it difficult to make the moves, I felt necessary for growth.
So, with that being said, at 51 I decided to take a leap of faith and jump back into an industry that I truly believe is in my blood! I was born to serve! I love to serve! And I am great at serving!
When I decided to make the move, I didn’t walk, but rather sprinted to my goals. As an individual owner, I was able to make quick decisions which allowed me to move at a fast pace and shake and bake!!
I know it can be so difficult for people to get unstuck from where they are at, but we all deserve to be truly happy and if you are not happy where you are, trust yourself enough to know you will succeed. For me, I gave myself no other option. I had to succeed and gratefully I have!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I am still not sure if what I did was the right thing to do or not, but I came up with the game plan and ran with it.
When I knew what I was going to do and got my Business started with my licensing and branding done, I still had to wait a few weeks until my first bar cart was built and delivered. So, I decided to take that time and start posting some post, even before I had even one follower.
Maybe it is just the way my brain thinks, but I wanted to make sure I had content that had value to it before I just started asking people to follow me. I was up to about 20 or so post before I even launched my business.
Then after I started posting things, I started to invite my closest friends and family and was up to about 50 followers before I “officially” launched my business.
Of course, the idea behind that was when I finally put myself out there, I felt like I or the business was “legit” if you will. Now that may be far from the truth, but nevertheless was my strategy.
As well, it is not important for me to bring value to my followers, so I post recipes usually once a week as well as including cocktail tips and wedding or event tips. I also try to make sure I stay on brand with my colors and content while staying positive.
Lastly, I really focus on engaging with others that I follow and try to share their content and let them know I am there to support them. In our industry it is so important to cheer on other vendors but also our “competitors”. And the reason I say it like that, is because I do not think any other mobile bartender or bartending company is my competitor because we are all different and there is enough business out there for all of us to prosper and support one another.
