We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paige Robertson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Paige, appreciate you joining us today. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
The least any business owner can be is professional. I began my career in a corporate environment and after starting my own business, took some missteps – one of them being that I relaxed my standards in terms of attire which came across as unprofessional overall. Quality is my business. The expectation is that at the least the service be professional, the delivery and then the other vendors to follow. Since rediscovering who Front Paige Events is, although clothing style doesn’t mean we are one way or another, at the least we are professionals and have created a process to match. Stick to your processes, refer and work with those who deliver quality. We are a team and as a planner, we are who we refer.
Paige, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Front Paige Events is a wedding planning and design company. We specialize in blending cultures, purposeful details, and design. We started in 2017 to work with couples wanting to celebrate and share their love story. Your love story is unique and so should be your wedding.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
When Front Paige Events started we did not initially lean on other businesses or professionals to grow the business. We took minimal payments to assist clients that took a shot on our business and hosted photo shoots to network, practice setups, and build our portfolio. By doing this we gained connections because of our work ethic, willingness to go above and beyond for clients, and our commitment to connecting people.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Not all business is good business. After society opened back up and weddings were flooding in, Front Paige Events grew quickly. Every couple that came to us wanted to work with us. It was exciting! Especially after no business and also being an entrepreneur, it’s exciting when people like what you’re doing. We said “yes” too many times. The quality of service did not match the package booked. Burnout knocked on the door in a season when we needed to be focused. The following year, we held to our outline, processes, and took on less clients ensuring we were delivering on our expectations and standards all while feeling fed by the work.
