We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paige Reesor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Paige , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to create art around empowering individuals, rather it is supporting our youth through education, a small business owner looking for an impactful mural, or a custom painting to commemorate a special moment. . I do not not limit myself, big or small, when it comes to my work. Every painting or mural piece I create begins with an idea. It is my job as an artist to not only develop and create the vision, but transform it into art, going beyond expectations of the client.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been creating art ever since I was a little girl. I always strived to be the best artist I could be. Today, I am am producing large-scale murals, live painting at weddings, and original works of arts thanks to years of patience and dedication. My painting skill set is versatility and problem-solving. I am able to see the ideas of my client, and turn it into something tangible. I can render portraits, but add a pop of color or beautiful, creativity landscape to the background. Mural projects I usually work in hand-brush acrylic or aerosol spray paint. All of my murals are original concepts. I create murals because it is a statement. For live painting, especially during weddings, is about creating an added element of interests for the event. It is about creating an atmosphere for your guests as the painting unfolds, but something you can take home for memories.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Being a “starving artist” phrase. I get to set my own path as an artist, but also as an entrepreneur who wants to grow my business. The “starving artist” does not empower meaningful artwork, it holds us back to our full potential. Stepping away from that mindset is freeing.
How did you build your audience on social media?
It isn’t huge, but I have been growing rapidly with this, especially Instagram in the last year. My biggest two success stories are engaging with my audience and creating interesting content. I am a big believer in networking, and social media can be that tool. I found reels to be an easy way to tell my story as an artist. Social media has been our biggest tool as artists to reach thousands of people who might have never got a chance to see our work.
