We were lucky to catch up with Paige Miller recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The story behind how I came up with the name of my brand, is sure a story. I was quite literally on vacation, and got certified in lash extensions not too long prior. I was honestly panicking, how was I going to put together a business from the ground up. The name, the theme, the aesthetic. Very hard and overwhelming.
I wanted my brand to be different, not your usual lashesbyblank. I wanted to be unique, as I’m sure everyone does. So me and my sister started bouncing ideas off of each other and well, LashFairyKC was born.
Then soon later became FairyEsthetics LLC.
Where magic meets skincare.
Fairies stood out to me and just the overall mystical fairytale life. I knew if in another world I would either be a fairy or an elf.
Paige, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Paige Miller, a passionate esthetician specializing in lash extensions and brow services. My journey in the beauty industry has been nothing short of transformative.
Since high school, I knew I wanted to work with people and build something of my own, I just wasn’t sure what that would look like. I considered esthetics school and facials, but my path truly began in June 2022 while working as a receptionist at a nail salon. At the time, I was interested in nails, but I quickly realized that job wasn’t for me. I needed something more fulfilling. That’s when eyelash extensions presented themselves as an opportunity.
With no prior experience, not even knowing how to apply strip lashes, I took a three-day lash course and dove headfirst into this career. It all happened so fast. Within two weeks, I was taking clients, offering services to anyone willing to let me practice. What started in my basement soon grew into something bigger, and now, two years later, I have my own suite and a thriving clientele of over 100+ amazing clients.
The growth I’ve experienced is surreal, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Consistency is key. If I had let a bad review, struggles with retention, or slow client returns discourage me, I wouldn’t have had the privilege of watching my business flourish.
I specialize in semi-permanent eyelash extensions and brow services, including waxing and laminations, catering to those who want to wake up feeling effortlessly put together. Whether you’re tired of strip lashes, want to cut down your makeup routine, or just need a confidence boost, I’ve got you covered.
What I’m most proud of is my determination, dedication, and passion for this industry. I started knowing absolutely nothing about lashes, and now I have the opportunity to teach and inspire others with the same drive. In an oversaturated beauty industry, authenticity is what truly sets businesses apart. The key to success? Keep going, keep learning, and never lose sight of your passion.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been social media. Specifically Instagram and Facebook. We are in a generation where social media is the main source of all information. I prefer instagram for most of my activity though I still try to get out on the field. Here are examples of ways I like to market myself.
Instagram reels: they are super popular, the use of fun videos to show off before and after. Tutorials and just a cute set has grown my social audience.
Loyalty cards: punch cards keeps clients coming back to receive that free fill!
Paid ads: instagram allows you to boosts any post to reach a wide audience. This helped me tremendously in the beginning and where I got a lot of my clients from.
Flyers: going back to the OG marketing. Getting out on the field and putting in that footwork. I love to print out as many stickers or flyers that I can and put them in areas I see my target audience. Target, shopping centers, the mall, you name it.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I am currently going through a pivot with my business. For two years I have been super consistent with my content and social media, making sure my name is out there. Once I got into esthetics school, it was a struggle to keep up. I had to step away from my business through social media just for the time being. However, it allowed me to find what my true mission statement is and aesthetic of my business. I completed a full rebrand, to the name, colors and style.
I needed to pivot, especially now in an economy that is rising. Changing and increasing is a huge focus. I plan to be back on the wagon here soon and go full force with my business. It’s exciting even thinking about it.
