Paige , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of D.Burno Collection during the beginning of Covid back in 2o20. At the time, I needed something to keep myself sain and grounded in the crazy times we had began living in. I truly took covid hard as I know of so many people who got severely ill from it, even me as I had an adverse reaction to the Covid vaccine. I used to always be upset during the early days of the pandemic. Oversized frames became my best friend. It was me, my frames, and my mask!
I really wanted to start an eyewear business specifically because of how good eyewear made me in particular feel. My goal is for both men and women to feel just as fashionable with my collection of eyewear and fashionable frames. Since I was a little girl, I would beg my parents to buy me shades ANY time we were out and about. There are a million images of me as a young girl in the cutest shades ( even in my moms!).
To me, eyewear is a sense of expression. It allows you to make a statement, while still uniquely being you. Sunglasses and shades allow you to be as discreet or as loud and expressive as you prefer. Being able to recieve photos and images from so many people in my eyewear means a lot to me.

I am from Philadelphia, born and raised but I currently reside in Atlanta, GA.
D. Burno Collection’s tag line is “Love What You See”. We strive to make everyone feel good with our highly fashionable and affordable frames. I believe being able to market and sell affordable frames for both men and women really sets us apart. So many people begin their businesses for financial reasons, but I truly take pride in offering affordable frames for all.
Our frames range from a variety of vintage, retro, to rimless, and oversized frames. We have a little something for everyone no matter what your style is.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
My store is a Shopify e-commerce store. I believe the pros of Shopify are that the site is easy to manage, it creates all the analytical and financial data you need to review for your business, and the best part is that when it comes to dropshipping. Shopify automatically creates USPS labels for you.
Shopify is super easy from a consumer perspective to navigate. As the creator of my store, I have the ability to shift it exactly how I want.
The biggest con to me with Shopify is the pricing. I feel as though there should be better pricing options when it comes to paying for your store.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was that everyone you love will support you.
This came as a shocker to me being 3 years in business now because there are so many people who I called myself being extremely close too, that have yet to support my business in any kind of way.
However, I do not let that discourage me from moving forward and expanding.
Those that support my eyewear brand mean the world to me and in times when I want to give up, those calls , orders, sales, and pictures of everyone rocking my frames are what keeps me going.
