We recently connected with Paige B. Thompson and have shared our conversation below.
Paige , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
This is so much more than just a transaction of buying, selling and investing in real estate. This is about changing peoples lives, and becoming a servant in the community, and guiding others to achieve a goal that they didn’t think was possible, and building those life long relationships. The transaction itself brings me a tremendous amount of happiness, as I hand over those keys for the very first time or helping people capitalize on their investment. It a very emotional feeling for me because most of these goals reached started with a thought of “is this even possible.” I get to hold peoples hand, walk this journey with them, advocate for them, be their biggest cheerleader, get a front row seat as they close one door and open a ever bigger door, and ultimately change peoples lives and continue to be there for them. I find that when I put myself in the shoes of my clients I am able to achieve those goals while also providing a wonderful experience. So I would say that my mission is to be a servant for others, make an impact in peoples lives, showing others that you can achieve this and I am going to be here every step of the way. I truly believe that God gives each of us a gift that brings us passion and enjoyment and it is up to us to find that gift and use it to share with others. I am using the gift that God gave me, and putting it to use. The gift of serving and making a difference in others peoples lives.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My story of starting my own business in Real Estate has a unique and powerful twist and something I am very passionate about. I am born and raised here in Georgia, born in Macon, but mainly grew up in the metro Atlanta area in a town called Milton. My parents, provided such a big motivation for me, and my father, was and still is my biggest role model. Everything I know about people, my father has taught me, and watching my him excel in his career as the vice president of Choate Construction really inspired me. As a child, I realized that my care for others was so powerful, and that care just grew bigger and bigger as I got older. As a little girl, I was constantly made fun of and was even told I was incomplete and a broken toy because I had a hearing problem and I will never forget what my mother told me. She told me, “there is something that you do not know about yourself but you were suppose to be a miscarriage. The doctors told me in the beginning of my pregnancy that you would miscarry over the weekend, and your dad and I got down on our knees and prayed that you would make it and that following Monday came and you kicked for the first time and I knew our prayers had just been answered and you were gonna be a miracle. You are my miracle child, and you Paige, you were brought into this world for a reason. You are going to change peoples lives, you just don’t know it yet” From that moment on, I knew that whatever I did when I got older (although I always knew I loved real estate) I knew that I had a dying desire to help others. It was the thing in life that made me completely happy. As soon as I turned 18, I started bartending and I become very good at it, and I really enjoyed people, but it wasn’t something that I truly enjoyed. But it did have its positives. I met my husband working at the bar and we finally got married in September of 2019. Once covid hit, my husband pushed me to achieve my goal by getting my real estate license (this was after years of me trying to achieve this). I quit my bartending job and for the next 7-8 months I did nothing but study, take courses and pass exams. I finally received my license in Georgia in January of 2021. I started at Keller Williams in Marietta, joined a team and realized that a team was just not for me, so I left and went to Fathom Realty in Woodstock that summer. Things were going great, and my business had took off. By March of 2022, they had decided to close the doors of the office and just be a cloud based brokerage and that was not fit for how I chose to run my business, so I made the switch to Atlanta Communities and this has been the best decision I have made. My business exploded once I made this switch, and they have been such a HUGE asset to my business and what they stand for matched mine like a puzzle. I really started planning my business, and treating everything I did with time blocking, allowing me to connect more with my friends, family, past clients and even gaining a tremendous amount of referrals. I was able to structure my business, and generate value for others by getting over myself and getting on video, social media and getting uncomfortable. I was able to generate some great business by using free platforms like instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. Before I knew it, I was helping people achieve all types of goals from buying their first home, remodeling homes, buying and selling at the same time, selling a first home, purchasing investment properties, first time landlords attracting a new tenant, divorce situations of selling, working with investors to flip homes, tapping into the luxury market, etc. I spent a lot of time meeting and networking with other people in the industry so I could have the best partners so I could provide those contacts to my clients and building a referral network nationwide so no matter where you are looking to achieve a goal I can help, and this creates so much value for a consumer. I invest in tools and platforms so that my clients can feel confident getting into the market and when it comes to marketing a home for sale, I really tap into every inch of exposure from professional photography, videography, brochures, mailers, signs, door knocking, flyers, open houses, google ads and so forth. When my clients have a goal, I shoot for the stars and become a problem solver and a lot of that starts with a strategic plan, positive mindsets, and staying focused. In January of 2023 I was hand selected to become a mentor at my brokerage called AIM where I help mentor and coach new agent and even seasonal agents. This has opened another door for me and another outlet to help people. Helping others has such a great return for me.
I think I am most proud of my ability to overcome my fear of what others think of me, and focus more on the reasons behind why I do what I do, to help others. Real estate isn’t easy, and it has its challenges, but what keeps me focused is the bigger goal of I get to change peoples lives every day, so all of this is worth it. My ability to step outside of the box, get creative, paint visions for people, building great relationships with people in the industry, being locally grown here plays a huge factor in how I am able to set myself apart from my competition. What I want others to know about my business is this is not just a transaction, this is not short term but instead this is long term, this is building blocks to the end goal and I have the tools to make that possible. Your goal is very important to me along with your experience working with me. Your time is the most precious thing you could ever give someone and something that can never be given back to you so if you give me your time, I want to treat it like gold, because it is gold. I want to overcome whatever fear you have that is standing in the way of achieving your goal, and I want to build trust and comfort. You deserve this, and I want to help you. I ultimately want the opportunity to serve you and your goals
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Reputation is everything and something that should never be missed and building relationships with people in the industry really has allowed great opportunities. I look at every conversation as an opportunity it doesn’t matter how big or how small. To always have the mindset that you never know who you are talking to and finding out if there is a way to help them. I love establishing relationships with other Realtors by going to coffee, grab a cocktail on a rooftop, going out to lunch and getting to know them. This has providing some amazing opportunities for not only me but the people that I work with. I utilize other outlets like networking events, attending classes, happy hours, getting involved in local involvements & charities. Asking others if they know someone I can help and just being the brand of my business everywhere I go. The goal is always that whatever experience you have with me I want it to end with nothing but great things. Having a known presence in the community is how opportunities are made and I want to fully utilize that.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Over 60% of my business comes straight from people who already know like and trust me with my sphere of influence, friends, family, past clients and word of mouth. I tender and care for the ones that I already know and ask for referrals. I don’t pay for leads, I use a different strategy by working only by referral because that’s what is most genuine for my business. So the more people I help, the more referrals I receive. I was trained that every client you get, your goal should be to get 3 referrals from. This requires me to give over and beyond service and constant contact which are all things I already do, so this just comes half in hand with my business and to always be consistent. Another thing I do is get on social media and do videos, be personal and be familiar. I want others to think Paige B. Thompson when they think of real estate.
