We recently connected with PAIGE and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, PAIGE thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I’ve known I wanted to be an Artist since I was as young as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is me getting a microphone and speaker for Christmas and performing for all my family on it. I was in choir all of middle school and high school and I absolutely loved practicing and singing on stage for everyone!
PAIGE, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My names PAIGE and I’m a rapper, singer, performer, and more. The genres I have music out in currently are rap/hip-hop, r&b, pop, etc. The second my foot hits the stage I always light up and put on a show no one forgets! I’ve been blessed to perform all across the United States, since my debut album “Hottie Red” dropped back in July 22′. I performed at Birthday Bash ATL Auditions, I’ve been interviewed by The Progress Report in ATL, won the competition for Jazze Pha Who’s Hot, went on multiple tours with Russ’s DJ, DJ Calvin, recorded music videos in Cincinnati, ATL, and Miami FL, and so much more. You’ll have to check out my website to learn everything I have done. I was also just featured on Pac Man Jone’s new album “Schmell Me”. I also have a best-selling book out called “She Looks Fine” by Paige Knechtly which you can find on Amazon by looking it up. I have a lot coming soon so be sure to stay tuned and follow me on my social media to keep up!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
On September 9, 2018 I was walking across a crosswalk and a car hit me as a pedestrian. I was unconscious for up to 30 minutes and suffered a severe brain injury. I suffered a skull fracture, a subdural hematoma and more on my brain. A subdural hematoma means I had blood between my brain and skull barrier. I also suffered severe neck and back issues and nerve damage down my left leg and into my foot. PTSD, anxiety, and depression, are some of the other issues I have from my accident. I actually still have all of those issues today. But I’ve put the work in and healed a lot since then. And I am grateful to be alive and continuing in my recovery. My mom and I wrote a book about our story to inspire and help others called “She Looks Fine”. People kept telling my mom I looked fine in the beginning when she would have loved if someone just had asked her if and her and I were okay and if they could do anything to help.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The most helpful resource I have found in the industry is to get out yourself and network. This industry revolves a lot on who you know. If higher ups know about you and your talent you could pop in their head about a headlining or such coming up.
