We were lucky to catch up with PACO Alacid recently and have shared our conversation below.
PACO, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Looking back, I wish I had always followed where life was trying to take me. I picked up my first camera when I was 8, and by 13 years old I did my first paid job as a photographer, but growing up, photography was not something that you would “make money from”. So I studied marketing, created a graphic design studio and marketing agency in Spain and although those experiences were also in the creative field, the truth is that they distracted me from what I should have done from the first day: Setting up my own photography studio.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a professional photographer. I specialize in photographing people in any of its varieties… from Fashion to Headshots, I feel at home when I engage with people in their sessions and I love collaboration in any type of creative projects. My clients are mostly Advertising Agencies, professionals and small to medium size businesses that need professional imagery and content for their marketing. I also photograph private clients; headshots, modeling portfolios or families.
What I am most proud of is being able to connect with people, the conversations and interactions during a photoshoot create a space that’s both intimate and fun. I love that.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As all of us; I went through the Covid years in 2020. As businesses around me were closing down, I decided to offer services for free to people that needed them and were going through rough times.
One of those clients was a 17 year old kid going through Chemotherapy. Her mother wanted to do a portrait session because he was showing signs of depression and he had mentioned some time ago that he would love to have professional photos taken. After we were done with the session, his mother pulled me aside to mention that it was the first time in over a year that she had seen her son laugh or smile. That photoshoot, in many ways; also helped me get through that time.
I believe that forgetting at that time about everything and just focusing on what made me happy, as a way of making others happy, made all the difference on the strength of my work and my studio today.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What I think helped build my reputation is very simple: Go the extra mile, deliver on time every single time, listen carefully to your customers and learn something new about your craft everyday. Word of mouth does the rest, as of today; I have close to one hundred 5 star reviews on Google. I always guarantee the results of my work and I believe that that confidence translates in the client’s perception of your value.
