We were lucky to catch up with Pacho Berrocal recently and have shared our conversation below.
Pacho , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic career when I saw the smiles on peoples faces , The positive feedback and the incredible support from family and friends, to be able to make someone forget everything and just dance is a trill. Music is something it was always present in my life and making it a career has been an amazing journey.
Pacho , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve first started the love for music a at early age. Music was always present in my family, the first time I mixed two records together was a very special moment. It was like the whole world shut off at that moment, and still is for me. I started to get more deeper into learning the craft and learning the technical side of it. Then getting into the scene at such a young age was a bit of a challenge. Started to Dj small parties then eventually moved from to clubs. Getting booked at the time was hard specially at a young age getting the recognition and the acceptance from promoter and DJ’s. It was a tough scene to break through but the once I was in the support from everyone never stoped. I feel like now everyone can buy some equipment and call them selfs a DJ.
When I DJ my main goal is to make people forget, taking them in journeys away from reality. It’s such a rewarding feeling when you connect with someone through music without even knowing their names. When you sync with a crowd and the vibe.I feel myself lucky to be in the position am in. Sharing the stage with world known artist and play events that I only would dream of. Also getting the positive support of idols of mine. To be honest I wouldn’t change anything is the set backs that keep you on your toes and learning from your mistakes when they happen is what make us grow.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission and goals are to be able to do this for the rest of my life. To keep sharing the love of music everywhere I go. Also to be able to do what you love and making it a career is what drive me to keep this journey. Many times you question yourself if its the right path but no matter what, I know I have to keep pushing to do what I love.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The way I see it, everyone working and thriving together is the way to go. As far as society understanding that for artist is a struggle to keep pushing yourself, and is not easy to pursue what you actually love and not just play it safe and get just whatever job pays the bills. Just simple things like sharing a post, a video, just a single Like click makes a difference for an artist. Is such a simple way of showing support and letting that artist know you support their work.
