We recently connected with Pablo Pizarro and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pablo, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As I reflect on my journey, I realize that my mission is deeply intertwined with the challenges I faced as a child. Growing up in a drug-infested home, I witnessed the devastating effects of addiction and domestic abuse. My brother and sister were born into this chaos, struggling with their own battles from the very beginning. At just eight years old, I experienced the heart-wrenching abandonment of my parents, who chose their destructive lifestyle over their children. In the midst of this turmoil, my grandmother stepped in, offering us what little stability she could.
One pivotal night, as she prepared to send us to church, she made the difficult decision to reach out to the children’s welfare system. It was a moment filled with uncertainty and fear. At church, during a prayer session, I raised my hand and made a heartfelt plea: “If God is real, I ask that He heal my mom and dad from their drug addiction and that I don’t have to go to foster care with my siblings. If He does, I will tell the world about who God is.” To my astonishment, when I returned home, my grandmother revealed that she had canceled the appointment to surrender us to foster care. It was a miraculous twist of fate that filled me with hope.
A year later, my father returned home, claiming to have turned his life around. I was skeptical, but I soon witnessed the incredible power of transformation as my mother also found her way to recovery. It has now been 26 years since they last used drugs, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love and faith.
In fulfilling my promise to share my story, I have become an advocate against gender-based violence and a mentor to young men. I wrote a book that delves into my family’s journey, sharing the triumphs that emerged from our struggles. My mission is to inspire others to believe in the possibility of change, to show that even in the darkest times, hope can shine through. Together, we can break the cycle of violence and addiction, and create a future where every individual has the opportunity to heal and thrive. Let my story be a reminder that resilience, faith, and love can change lives and rewrite destinies.
Pablo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I appreciate the opportunity to share my story and the mission that drives my work. My name is [Your Name], and my journey has been shaped by the profound challenges I faced as a child. Growing up in a drug-infested home, I witnessed domestic abuse and the devastating impact of addiction on my family. At just eight years old, my parents abandoned my siblings and me, leaving us to navigate a tumultuous world. Thankfully, my grandmother took us in, providing the love and care she could despite her frail health.
These early experiences ignited a fire within me—a desire to create change and advocate for those who feel powerless. My journey took a transformative turn when I made a heartfelt prayer at church, asking for healing for my parents and for my siblings and me to stay together. Miraculously, my family found healing, and it has been 26 years since my parents last used drugs. This profound change fueled my commitment to share my story and help others find their paths to recovery and resilience.
Today, I am an author, advocate, and mentor. I have written a book that details my family’s journey, highlighting the triumphs that emerged from our struggles. My work extends beyond storytelling; I actively advocate against gender-based violence and mentor young men, helping them navigate their own challenges and empowering them to become positive influences in their communities.
What sets me apart is my authentic connection to the issues I address. I speak from lived experience, understanding the pain and struggles that many face. My approach is rooted in compassion and empathy, aiming to inspire hope and healing in others. I offer workshops, speaking engagements, and mentorship programs that focus on resilience, self-empowerment, and breaking the cycle of violence and addiction.
I am most proud of the impact my work has had on individuals and communities. Seeing someone transform their life, find their voice, and rise above their circumstances is incredibly rewarding. I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that my mission is not just about sharing my story—it’s about creating a movement of healing and empowerment. Together, we can illuminate the path for those still struggling and foster a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. My journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and I am dedicated to helping others find their own light.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele and my following has been simply telling my story. I believe that when I share my experiences, there’s always someone out there who can relate to what I’m going through. For instance, I frequently visit schools, particularly in the inner city of Newark, NJ, where I share my experiences of growing up without parents and the abuse that was prevalent in my home. The connection I make with the youth is incredibly powerful; many of them are facing similar struggles, and they see that it is possible to overcome adversity.
Moreover, my story resonates not just with young people, but also with men who have previously struggled with abusive behaviors. I’ve connected with many individuals who identify with the story I share about my father’s struggles. This shared understanding has led me to collaborate with a group called Men of Courage, which has been instrumental in helping me amplify my voice and reach a broader audience.
Together, we founded a group called Valiente, which means “courageous” in Spanish. Our mission is to challenge the societal norms that accept abuse against women as permissible. Through Valiente, I work with young men aged 18-25, helping to shape their perspectives and instill a deep respect for women. This initiative not only empowers young men to be better individuals but also fosters a community where respect and understanding are prioritized.
By sharing my journey, I create a safe space for open dialogue and healing. This approach has not only helped me grow my clientele but has also allowed me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those I connect with. I’m proud to say that my story has become a catalyst for change, inspiring others to break free from their circumstances and promoting a culture of respect and courage.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, I have several goals and missions that are currently driving my creative journey. First and foremost, I am determined to reach every single school in my community and the surrounding neighborhoods to share my experiences. I believe that my story can resonate with young people who are facing similar challenges, and I want to inspire them to find hope and strength in their own lives.
Additionally, I aim to reach every juvenile detention center and prison, sharing my story with those who may feel trapped by their circumstances. By doing so, I hope to play a key role in reshaping the way young men and men think about themselves and how we treat women. It’s vital to foster a culture of respect and understanding, and I am committed to being an advocate for this change.
Lastly, my mission is deeply personal. I want to leave this earth a better place for my son and daughter. Instilling in them a love for God, their family, and their community is paramount to me. I believe that by embodying these values and sharing my journey, I can create a legacy of love, respect, and resilience that will inspire future generations. My goal is to not only transform lives but to contribute to a world where compassion and understanding prevail.
