We recently connected with Out Of Touch Productions and have shared our conversation below.
Out Of Touch Productions, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any key partners or vendors – if so, how’d you find them and start working with them?
We both met each other our sophomore year of high school in our media technology class. After seeing how hard we each worked on our own respective film projects we decided it would be wise to work together. After that we continued working together on multiple projects until we got the idea to form this production company!
We truly think our friendship is what holds this business together and what makes the work aspect fun. Being friends and business partners really taught us that it’s okay to have fun on projects and it’s made us make sure we are providing a comforting and friendly environment to our clients/crew.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Our names are Julian Tejeda and Ahna-Marie Cruz, together we run Out Of Touch Productions, an independent production company based in the DFW area! The idea for our production company first came to us in our sophomore year of high school. We had both become great friends and partners in our school’s media class at Dubiski Career high school, during our free time, we would take the time to talk about the steps we needed to take to get everything started up; we eventually landed on the company’s name and had a notebook full of ideas just waiting to be turned into short films! After a few hiatuses we finally started producing those films and got into a handful of film festivals!
Although we’re currently producing short films, we soon plan on producing independent feature films. We believe that what sets us apart from others is our drive to always make quality content and always find a way to please our audience.
We are always proud of the work we’ve released and we want anyone who is interested in working with us to know that we will always strive to do our absolute best.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding part for us is seeing our audience react positively to our work or getting into festivals! Another big plus is when people are willing to collaborate.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
We believe our resilience truly showed when we were trying to get this company off the ground. One major setback that came into play during the developmental stages was Covid-19. Months of planning multiple projects were quickly cast aside as the whole world entered isolation. After a few months into the pandemic, it seemed like Out Of Touch Productions was over before it even began.
That summer (2020) we both got an internship on a feature and as soon as we started working together again on set, the spark was reignited and we soon crafted an idea for a short drama film called “The Upward Turn”. Within no time, The Upward Turn was in production and was officially our first short film under Out Of Touch Productions!
The Upward Turn was accepted into a handful of festivals that were unfortunately canceled due to Covid, however, just being recognized was more than we could ask for!
The company once again took a backseat as we both had to focus on our senior year of high school during which we both received leadership awards for our work in the media technology pathway. Once we both graduated, we started back up once more, this time creating social media pages and having a new logo professionally designed for us. By October of 2021 production had begun work on our second short film “THE INHABITANT”. This time we had both decided to venture into the horror genre and make a short film about a dancer who begins to suspect something supernatural is occurring within her apartment. We released it publicly on our YouTube channel in December, and were able to finally show the world what we could do with very little resources!
By January of 2022 our next project had been released, this one aptly titled “I’M GOING TO KILL YOU TONIGHT”. This short follows a woman who must come face to face with her stalker after years of harassment. This short was also accepted into a handful of film festivals and as of doing this interview, we are producing our next project “NOT ALONE” a short film about a young boys depression taking on the physical embodiment of a demon.
Without our dedication, patience, and resilience our company simply wouldn’t exist.
