We were lucky to catch up with Othniel Horvath recently and have shared our conversation below.
Othniel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a very good friend of mine once said: “if your story reaches just one person and changes that person’s life, then it has already been worth it.” My mission in both filmmaking and graphic designing is that important sentence above. I believe in the power of art.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My love for movies began at the age of 6 when I received my very first camera that recorded on floppy. Since then, filmmaking has become my passion, driving me to create captivating stories on the big screen. I have always been a storyteller; I found my passion for expressing ideas through films as I grew older. At the age of 12, I achieved my first award alongside my talented siblings for our comedy short movie, called Car Race. Being passionate about creating movies with a burning desire to touch people’s hearts through the magic of cinema, I have dedicated my life to creating films and providing artworks. My father taught me to many things, just like the art of graphic designing. I started my own company when I was 18 years old and extended our services with time. As filmmaking was a huge part of my life by then, I included videomaking, promotional video shooting and photo shooting to my company.
I am proud of the team I work with, each and every person is hard working and discipline which is crucial for making progress, in my opinion.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My company’s reputation was built on trust and good customer service. Every time we had just a tiny problem or small imperfection, we always made sure to make it up for the customer, to make them satisfied and happy. Even if we made no money on a project, our reputation was absolutely number one. I always said: it’s better to have no money but good reputation after a project, than having a lot of money and leaving our customers unhappy or disappointed.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
My wife always said she’s not a creative person, but every time she sees me how I break down the walls by my creative ideas, she can benefit from that. So my advice would be to surround themselves with the right people who will help them achieve goals by driving them with the right spirit. Surrounding yourself with the right individuals can be the key in this question.
