We were lucky to catch up with Othencia Yacinthe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Othencia, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk I ever took was leaving a toxic home environment with nothing but my faith, a small amount of savings, and a vision of peace. I did not have a traditional place to live, but I chose purpose over chaos by living in an art studio as a reminder of the joy I found in creating, and to give myself the freedom to simply be and learn to stand in the comfort of being alone without anyone shaping my identity.
My art studio became a sanctuary. I painted in the middle of the night, and it was my comfort in the midst of uncertainty. Instead of focusing on the uncertainty, I was creating with the intention of becoming a better version of myself. That leap of faith became my foundation for who I am today. In that season of solitude, I had to face myself. With being alone, you are forced to see aspects of yourself that are holding you back. I recognized how I lacked confidence and how disconnected I felt from my own identity. That journey led me to diving deep about the nervous system. the nervous system affects our confidence, our skin, our energy, and our ability to feel safe in our own bodies. Living in survival mode taught me that true healing starts when you can take a look at what is hurting inside and tending to the parts of our soul that is in need of attention.
From that risk, Kémbe Fem wellness spa was born- a brand that means ” hold strong ” in Haitian creole. It honors my Haitian roots and the resilience that carried me from homelessness to purpose. It represents my commitment to helping others feel safe, grounded and restored inside of their bodies.
Every day that you choose to get up and keep going, you are proving to yourself that you are enough. Strength is built quietly, through consistency, and one day at a time you are rewriting your story.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Othencia Yacinthe, and I am the founder of Kémbe Fem Wellness Spa — a holistic beauty and healing brand rooted in skincare, spirituality, and nervous system regulation. I am a holistic esthetician, painter, and the podcast host of “Let Your Soul Out the Cage,” which will be available soon on Apple Music and Spotify.
Unlike a traditional spa, my approach blends spirituality, art, and embodied healing. I help women from all backgrounds rediscover peace through practices that honor ancient wisdom while embracing modern wellness.
I provide:
• Holistic facials rooted in nervous system regulation
• Deep intuitive massages for emotional clarity and spiritual grounding
• Yoni steams designed to support womb healing, confidence, and softness
• Creative healing experiences inspired by my own journey of using art to transform
I also offer a unique skincare philosophy I created called “The Four Elements of Earth,” where each element represents a skin type and an emotional pattern clients can focus on healing:
• Water — Dry or sensitive skin. Encourages nourishment, hydration, emotional flow, and softness.
• Earth — Normal/balanced skin. Represents a centered and grounded foundation.
• Fire — Oily, inflamed, or acne-prone skin. Focuses on cooling, calming, and releasing irritation.
• Air — Combination skin. Teaches balance, clarity, and mindful regulation of varying needs.
Alongside my spa work, I am building community healing experiences such as new and full moon drum circles, herbal tea–based paint sessions, and gatherings designed to help women feel seen, supported, and uplifted. I am also developing my own line of massage oils and yoni steams that support both physical wellness and emotional release.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes — several books have played a major role in shaping my entrepreneurial mindset and my healing philosophy.
“Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill taught me the power of clarity, imagination, and believing in what you can’t yet see. It helped me understand that success starts in the mind long before it shows up in your life.
“The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz reshaped how I communicate with myself and others. The concept of not taking things personally and being impeccable with my word brought a deep sense of peace and responsibility into both my business and my personal healing journey.
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle grounded me in presence. It helped me slow down, breathe, and make decisions from my spirit instead of survival mode — something that deeply influences the nervous-system-regulation work I do with clients.
These books encouraged me to build Kémbe Fem Wellness Spa from a place of intention, clarity, and inner strength. They continue to guide my mindset as I grow as both an entrepreneur and a healer.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
To succeed in this field of being a holistic esthetician, organization and discipline are essential . You have to be intentional with your time, your energy, and the way you show up every day. Emotional Intelligence is also extremely important. Clients do not just come to you for a service-they come for presence, safety, and connection.
A big part of this work is learning how to seperate your personal emotions from your professional space. You can’t pour from an overwhelmed mind. Being able to regulate your own feelings allows you to be fully present, grounded, and compassion for your clients
