Oszkar , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, let’s jump into one of the most exciting parts of starting a new venture – how did you get your first client who was not a friend or family?
Technically, I was my very own first client. I direct, film, and edit music videos under Redeyetv Productions. When I got my first camera I needed content I can show potential clients. I am also a musician so I decided to film a music video for myself. Once I filmed and edited the music video titled “Dreamer” I finally had something to show. I began by messaging close friends and sending them the music video I just shot. The first one to hire me was my friend who goes by El Monte Rey. We shot the first video then we shot another one and then the next one and so on.
Oszkar , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a music video director, cinematographer, editor, and producer. My production’s company name is Redeyetv Productions. At Redeyetv we try to make the artist feel like they are part of the team. We work together to try and bring the artist’s vision to life. We help the artist acquire locations, cast principal, supporting and background talent, and help with acquiring major props such as vehicles. We want the music video to be the best it can be.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met Angel “Classics” Rodriguez while filming a music video for one of his friends, David Ortiz. Angel liked what I was doing and reached out. From there we created Redeyetv and shaped it to what it is today.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe posting every project I have done on Instagram has been the most effective strategy. I am always getting messages on Instagram about the videos. Also treating the client as a team member and not a client has helped.
