We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Oscify . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Oscify below.
Alright, Oscify thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Thank you! I can say that I have always had a fascination with music that drove me to learn more and more. When I started there were no expectations. I had always been a strong writer, and not much of a singer, and hiphop styles seemed to come easily to me from an early age.
As time went by the music found itself in very experimental areas which I enjoyed, but the audience didn’t always “get it”, and at times these efforts seemed to pull me from my core skill set of writing effective lyrics.
There are no shortcuts.
Ultimately, these seeming missteps helped to strengthen the holistic view of a creative mission statement, and to rediscover my strong suits.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been inspired by the great thinkers and creatives since being very young, and have always wanted to contribute art to the world any way possible in whatever capacity I could.
I’m a poet, a vocalist, I play a few instruments, and am a graphic artist. I perform live in several capacities, from emceeing hiphop, to singing with an acoustic guitar, to instrumental Dj sets.
The goal is to bring positivity and relatability to all of these areas, promote health and wellness, and the idea of each person finding their own unique purpose and path in life, especially that which is untraveled. Each of us has something valuable to teach the collective and each other.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think inside of all of us there is a drive to be great, whether in service to others, or to master a trade, reach a physical fitness or career goal, or simply to do something unique and beautiful with art or music.
The greatest reward is not the accolades or acceptance of others, but to truly know that you did that which you set out to accomplish. If these achievements push us toward even greater milestones, one can stay steadily growing on a path that truly has no summit. Remain hungry, my friends!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn quite a lot actually including some lessons two or three times. Ultimately, I had to learn to create my own mold. There is no set of instructions and each individual’s journey is completely unique. Comparisons frequently come undone, and each soul has its own story to tell and motivation for being.
To truly understand the value in the art I create, I had to realize that I have a far greater purpose in my life than to just be an artist. I had to learn how to go to work and create value. It became a search for what it means to be a whole human, and forget about music for a while. Once I did that for some time, I was able to return with more passion than I’d ever had before.
