Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Oscar Dominguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Oscar, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
As I look back in my career, the key for success is consistency and commitment to your goals. It is important to know what do you want to achieve and where you want to be in the next few years or decades. It is easy to say, but it requires sacrifice of your time and resources. I remember when I decided to go back to college in 2018, it was my 5th time trying to obtain a college degree, it seemed like a long shot. But, I had to take it step by step and eventually I saw the progress that propelled me to the finish line.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am in Mortgage Lending. I guide clients through the financial process of buying a house and ensure they understand each step. I am known for my prompt response, outstanding service, and finding the right loan program for my clients. I am proud that I can help others buy what is likely one of the most important and expensive purchases of a lifetime and be successful in my career at the same time.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I came to the United States in 1997. I enrolled in South Oak Cliff High School and graduated in 1999. While in my last year of High School, I was hired at a local IHOP as a dishwasher. I worked for IHOP 21 years and had the opportunity to be in various roles; server, cook, Assistant Manager, General Manager, and then Area Director. IHOP was a great place to learn many skills that I use now as a Mortgage Lender. In 2019, I began my career as Mortgage Loan Officer with Security National Mortgage. During my first year, I closed 8 loans, and in my second year, production increased to 80 loans per year. I could not have done this without people that trusted me, and provided me with their knowledge and experience. I am thankful that I can help many families achieve homeownership.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
In today’s world, it is important to build strong relationships. To me, that is the key for a successful professional.
