We recently connected with OsbornNash and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, OsbornNash thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When we first got together, it wasn’t about being creative or artistic. At the time, we had no idea we would be pursuing a musical path together. But as circumstance would have it, an opportunity presented itself that would involve working together and discovering our mutual love for creativity & performing.
Liz joined Bob when an opportunity came along to fill-in for another singer.
It was only after woodshedding to learn three hours of material needed for a summer tour that we decided to continue our musical pursuits. The talent was there, the chemistry was right and the positive reactions to our performances made it a no brainer for us to continue as OsbornNash professionally.
Since then, we have opened shows for Wynonna Judd and The Big Noise, Billy Currington (w/LOCASH, Canaan Smith & Russel Dickerson/2018), Easton Corbin & Craig Morgan (2019).
More recently we were voted the WYRK Taste of Country Riser in 2022 & were given the opportunity to open for Tim McGraw along with Billy Currington, Walker Hayes & Thompson Square (June 2022) at the Taste of Country Concert – Sahlen Field, Buffalo, NY.
We were again honored at requests for us to open concerts for Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts (August 2022) at Spiedie Fest – Binghamton, NY – and one week later we shared the stage opening for Blake Shelton at the Darien Lake Amphitheater – Darien, NY.
Currently, we are continuing our performing, creative & artistic pursuits as we record our second album in Nashville.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
There’s a saying that seems to have tagged itself to our profession and that is “You don’t choose music, music chooses you.” – And that’s something we wholeheartedly believe to be true.
In this field, you can’t help but be inspired by the success of those that have come before you, in their talent & what they’ve accomplished. We both have individual & mutual experiences that have led us to the choices & sacrifices we’ve made in pursuing music.
When asked what we are most proud of we’d have to say it’s the accomplishments made in the past few years, previously mentioned, to take ourselves from obscurity into the beginnings of recognition. We still have a long way to go, however we can’t help but be inspired to work even harder. One of our greatest accomplishments is that we remain dedicated & mutually respectful of each other’s role in all of this… still friends… still fans!
Although success can be measured on many levels, we hold that our greatest success is being blessed with the opportunity to do what we love & thoroughly enjoy. Our aim is to share this with our audience!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For us the most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative arrives when all the effort and sacrifice you put into your art begin to pay off. That pay off doesn’t have to come in the form of a monetary windfall it can be much simpler, such as recognition from your peers. There is also a personal gratification found in witnessing the positive effect our music and performances have made on individuals as he or she finds personal meaning in what we share as an artist.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There’s definitely something to be said for meeting your challenges head on. We decided to enter a competition that would provide an opportunity for us to get a little closer to industry professionals as well as build a stronger local awareness. We didn’t win the contest; however, we did come in second place and at the time were happy with that because we were still going to have the opportunity to participate in a performance experience with a group of successful writers/artists.
However, Covid came along and the opportunities for us, as well as many others, was lost. After the resolve of the Covid lockdown, we decided to enter once more and our application was rejected… we were disappointed but stayed in contact with the organization that was running the contest. As it turned out, one of the contest performers was unable to participate and we were offered the opportunity. We assumed we would probably be judged as a filler but decided to jump in anyhow. As fate would have it, not only did we participate, but we won!
That contest gave us the opportunity to be an opening act at a concert venue of over 25,000 people, featuring Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Walker Hayes, & Thompson Square.
As a result of the recognition we gained, we were then requested as an opening act for Blake Shelton at another venue of over 20,000. As well as Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts.
So never give up… you never know!
