We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ortal Mirzahi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Ortal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

I’ve always had a deep love for beauty and fashion, particularly when it comes to expressing my own unique style through the clothes I wear. This passion led me to create my own beautiful pieces and later founding MadeByILA. Our goal is to go beyond just providing clothing to our customers. Our designs celebrate femininity, embrace individuality, and inspire women to embrace their unique identities and express themselves authentically.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

L.A.-based brand MadeByILA was started by Ortal Mizrahi in 2019. The self-taught designer is originally from Israel where she studied law but always dreamed of pursuing a career in fashion. So, when she moved to Los Angeles she began to test the waters and began designing custom pieces for close friends and family. MadeByILA celebrates effortless glamour and designs pieces made to drape and highlight a woman’s silhouette. Soon after, news spread about her celebration-worthy pieces that involve luxurious silks, feather details and handmade embroidery with fabrics sourced from all over the world, including Italy. Her hard work and dedication has clients flying in from all around the world. Given the interest in her business she has recently expanded to offering bridal wear and most recently was featured during New York Fashion Week.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

The key factor that has helped us build a strong reputation in the market is the exceptional quality of our products. We take pride in not only designing the dresses but also the fabrics and patterns used in them. Our unique embroidery, sequin, and lace materials are custom-made by the best factories all over the world and then transformed into beautiful dresses by skilled professionals here in LA. This dedication to quality, combined with the endorsement of celebrities and influencers, has ensured brand recognition both in the US market and internationally.

MadeByILA products are currently sold online through our website and via our esteemed retail partner, REVOLVE. Additionally, our local LA customers have the option to purchase our dresses in our showroom. We are actively working on expanding our retail presence across the US and have aspirations to be featured in major retail stores worldwide.
