Ornella, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I have always been passionate about travel aimed at discovering new places, customs and ways of life.
What has always fascinated me is the idea of following itineraries that are different from those usually offered by tour operators.
Over time, I realized that there is a demand for personalized travel and that the supply is lower than the demand. Often, what is proposed does not always reflect the customer’s wishes and expectations.
This inclination of mine, together with my love for Africa where I live, encouraged me to start my own business. One of the added values much appreciated by my clients is that I have visited the places in person and followed the same itineraries.
Furthermore, knowledge of the environment, uses and customs allows me to give added value to my proposals and anticipate possible inconveniences, providing suggestions and tricks that cannot be found by purchasing a trip from the agency in your city or choosing it on the web.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After graduating in languages at the IULM University of Milan, I did various jobs in commercial and industrial companies.
At the same time, I followed specialization courses in travel design to be able to start my own business.
I propose trips to East Africa and Southern Africa customized according to the client’s needs.
I provide continuous support to the customer during the trip to resolve any inconveniences that may occur, I provide indications and suggestions that derive from having lived in Africa for more than twenty years.
I have rescued my clients from dozens of different situations such as lost/stolen passports, flight cancellations, natural disasters resulting in itinerary changes, just to name a few.
My greatest satisfaction is knowing that my clients feel safe and can fully appreciate the exciting experience of traveling in Africa!
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
I sell services and my main objective is to provide customers with a service that fully meets their expectations. Since these are personalized trips, customer requests can be very specific and demanding, which requires continuous attention on my part.
For this reason, I collaborate with trusted suppliers who operate locally and who provide the desired itinerary, allowing me to focus solely on the relationship with customers.
I have learned that it is necessary to guide the customer in formulating the itinerary and also suggest what will make his adventure unique, rather than providing the “usual standard package”.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I share videos and photos of itineraries online on the most popular social networks, providing specific information, facts and situations relating to the trip.
A continuous online presence is necessary to maintain and increase the number of visitors.
