We were lucky to catch up with Orlando Rosario recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Orlando thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
In middle school, my sister had a friend named ATM who was a DJ. He was really good, but he kept cutting the music to talk, which drove me nuts. I remember thinking, “I can do better than that.” That thought really stuck with me and got me interested in DJing.
My parents weren’t about to spend the insane amount of money it would’ve costed to buy DJ gear back then, so I had to get creative. I found a website that ran contests for DJ equipment and entered every month. The only emails I got back were, “Thanks for trying”.
Then one day, I got a call. A guy from the site said their email system had glitched and wanted to tell me directly that I had won a DJ-in-a-Box. It had everything I needed to get started.
My dad didn’t believe it, so he called back to confirm. No catch, no fees. It was legit. A couple of weeks later, the package showed up, and that was the start of my DJ career.

Orlando, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always been passionate about music, ever since I was a kid, so getting into DJing felt natural. It’s my creative outlet. Even though the way my DJ career started might’ve seemed like luck, I believe everything happens for a reason.
Once I got going, I became obsessed with more than just the technical side of DJing. I wanted to understand how music affects a moment. It’s not just about playing music. It’s about reading the room, knowing when to turn things up and when to pull back, and making sure everything moves the way it should. That’s what led me to start Continuum DJs.
Most people don’t think of a DJ company as one that solves a problem, but that’s exactly what we do. The pandemic reminded us how much people need to come together, not just to gather, but to celebrate and to party. We provide the soundtrack for those moments. That’s where my passion really comes through. Our goal is to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences that our clients and their guests wish they could relive.
The high I get when I see pure joy on people’s faces, when the energy in the room is electric, when people are singing at the top of their lungs and completely lost in the moment. There’s nothing like it. That’s why I do this.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Most people don’t see DJing as a real career path, or at least they didn’t when I was starting out. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that people will always say something can’t be done until someone goes out and actually does it. So don’t let people get in your head. A lot of the time, their opinions about your life have nothing to do with you; they’re just projecting their own fears and insecurities. Instead of worrying about the noise, focus on living your life, not the one other people think you should.
If you believe pursuing your passion is realistic, make a plan, and start executing on it. Don’t let someone else’s doubts stop you from pursuing the things you love.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being an entertainer isn’t as glamorous as it looks. It’s as simple as just showing up, setting up a couple of speakers, and pressing play. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into making an event successful, and most of it isn’t exciting. But if you’re truly passionate about what you do, you learn to love every part of the process because it leads to creating incredible experiences for the people we serve.
I live for the moments when people come up to me and say the experience we created was one of the best of their lives. That makes it all worth it.
