We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Orlando Jimenez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Orlando below.
Hi Orlando, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I could go back in time and reconsider when I started Dos Bros Coffee, I’d say the timing was just right. Dos Bros Coffee officially became a venture in early 2025, during a pivotal moment in my life and career. At that point, I had accumulated years of experience as a professional athlete, an entrepreneur, and a veteran. I was managing Fight Rope Fitness, pursuing advanced business education, and working under Coventry, Vernon & Roberts. This phase of my life allowed me to approach the business with a level of discipline, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of community impact that I may not have had earlier.
Had I started sooner, I might not have had the resources or network necessary to position Dos Bros Coffee as a meaningful brand. Earlier in my career, my focus was heavily on competing, training, and serving my country. My mindset was different—less grounded in the entrepreneurial vision I’ve since developed. Conversely, starting later might have meant missing opportunities to grow alongside my father, Victoriano Lujan, who is my 49% partner. Partnering with him adds a family dynamic that makes this business deeply personal and fulfilling.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the timing. Starting at this stage of life allowed me to combine lessons from my professional and personal experiences with the vision of creating something impactful for our community. The journey feels right—well-timed, meaningful, and rooted in the values that matter most to me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Orlando Jimenez, owner of Dos Bros Coffee, a venture that blends my entrepreneurial spirit, family roots, and passion for building meaningful connections. My journey into the business world is deeply intertwined with my background as a professional athlete, a disabled war veteran, and a business professional. These experiences instilled in me the discipline, resilience, and vision that now fuel Dos Bros Coffee.
I first entered the entrepreneurial space through Fight Rope Fitness, a brand that celebrates the power of movement and fitness. That venture taught me the value of creating products and services that not only meet practical needs but also inspire and empower people. With Dos Bros Coffee, I wanted to extend that ethos to another universal experience—coffee. For many, coffee is more than a drink; it’s a ritual, a source of energy, and a bridge for conversations. Dos Bros Coffee embodies these qualities while adding a personal touch: the opportunity to work alongside my father, Victoriano Lujan, who is my business partner and 49% owner of the company.
As a disabled war veteran, I understand firsthand the importance of support, connection, and community. That’s why Dos Bros Coffee also serves as a platform to give back to the veteran community. Whether through hiring initiatives, collaborations, or partnerships with veteran organizations, we are dedicated to making a difference for those who have served. This mission is personal to me, as I’ve experienced how meaningful it is to find opportunities for growth and healing after military service.
At Dos Bros Coffee, we specialize in high-quality cold brew coffee crafted with care and precision. What sets us apart is our commitment to building community, honoring family values, and delivering an exceptional product that resonates with people from all walks of life. We aim to bring more than just coffee to the table; we aim to create moments—whether that’s the first sip of your morning brew, the comfort of a shared cup, or the spark of an idea that comes over coffee with a friend.
I’m most proud of how this business reflects my journey and values. As someone who has experienced the transformative power of hard work and perseverance, Dos Bros Coffee is a testament to what’s possible when you combine passion with purpose. Our mission is to create products that not only energize but also connect people in meaningful ways.
For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want you to know that Dos Bros Coffee is more than a brand; it’s a story. It’s about family, resilience, and the belief that small things—like a cup of coffee—can make a big impact. Whether you’re enjoying our cold brew at home, sharing it with loved ones, or sipping it in the middle of your workday, we hope Dos Bros Coffee becomes a part of your story, too.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that truly illustrates my resilience comes from my time serving in the military as a warfighter and the journey I took after returning home as a disabled war veteran. During my service, I faced physical, mental, and emotional challenges that tested every fiber of my being. But one of the hardest battles came after the uniform came off—rebuilding my identity, my purpose, and my life in a civilian world that often felt foreign.
There was a moment during this transition when I felt like the weight of my injuries and experiences might hold me back. I was juggling recovery, finding a career path, and providing for my family while dealing with the mental toll of what I’d been through. It was during this time that I leaned into the lessons I’d learned in the military—discipline, adaptability, and grit. I realized I had two choices: I could let my circumstances define me, or I could define my future.
I chose the latter. I went back to school, earning multiple degrees, including an MBA, and began building businesses that reflected my values and passions. Starting Fight Rope Fitness allowed me to reconnect with movement, fitness, and discipline, while Dos Bros Coffee gave me the chance to create something meaningful with my father. Both ventures are more than businesses—they’re part of a larger mission to inspire others and serve my community, especially my fellow veterans.
There was no single, easy breakthrough. My journey has been about consistently showing up—on good days and bad—and pushing through the setbacks to create something bigger than myself. That resilience has carried me through every challenge, and it’s a mindset I bring to my work every single day. Whether it’s crafting the perfect cold brew or mentoring others, my mission is to turn struggle into strength and build a legacy rooted in perseverance and purpose.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Our journey with Dos Bros Coffee is hitting some incredible milestones. Our very first Aero Build Dos Bros Coffee trailer is currently being outfitted and will be ready for operations in April 2025. This trailer represents more than just a business expansion—it’s a symbol of how far we’ve come and where we’re heading.
At the same time, we’re constructing Dos Bros Coffee’s first café, which will be located inside Big House Barbershop’s salon. This partnership is exciting because it brings together two complementary spaces: a fresh haircut and a quality cup of coffee. While the café is being built, our Dos Bros Mobile Coffee cart is already in operation daily on the barbershop side, ensuring that our customers get a taste of what’s to come.
These steps are all about bringing the Dos Bros Coffee experience closer to the community, combining quality coffee, exceptional service, and meaningful connections. We’re excited to serve you, whether it’s from our mobile cart, our Aero Build trailer, or our upcoming café!
