We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ora Roberts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ora, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I went through a phase in my life of facing really bad anxiety in which I didn’t want to eat, I lived with my parents while paying rent at my house. I literally slept in the bed with my parents because I was afraid “I Was going to die”. Thank God for my praying parents Tanya Roberts and Mark Roberts, they loved me and nurtured me through it all and I begin to read my Bible, seek the lord for myself, and most of all started the best thing ever, my prayer life with God. In the process of all of this I found my church home and which I am now under the leadership of Bishop Reginald Kellam and 1st Lady Shelby Kellam at The Friendship Church In High Point, NC. I relearned myself, I begin to see things in a different light and stopped worrying about the opinions of others. I forgave myself for things I’ve done in the past and most of all knew that God had forgiven me and this is how I Fixed My Crown and The Game Changed . As I fixed my crown and began to fully walk with God I met my significant other, I got connected with people that pushed me into greater for my life. I released my first single called “Crowned” and fully started my business. Once I did this I learned that everything in life I’ve gone through or will go through is bigger than me. All of the gifts that God has placed on the inside of me is to be a blessing to someone else and to lead them to HIM! This is how I knew I wanted to pursue my ministry through song, tutoring, and uplifting businesses and more.

Ora, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Ora Roberts. In my business Crowned With Gloryy , I’m driven by a divine anointing to use my gift of song to uplift and support those facing challenges, guided by God’s instruction. I do different events such as conferences, worship nights, concerts, funerals, weddings, and more, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in hopes that someone will have a change of heart, mind, and say that they want to know the God I serve. I feel what sets me apart from others is because it’s not all about money for me, nor is it about a platform, I truly want others to know and get to experience the Glory of God. His presence has made me new and free from all things in my past.

While doing this I sell merchandise to support my brand and to raise awareness for those that GOD IS REAL! I love to see others with my merchandise one in which is my best seller “Created With Purpose” because most people lack the knowledge of knowing that they were fearfully and wonderfully made and God took his time with them.

Beyond my role in music, I’m dedicated to nurturing young scholars through tutoring, helping them not only excel academically but also build confidence. I believe that all learning or anything begins with confidence in yourself. How do I know? Because I once was one that lacked the confidence. My academic journey includes an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Haywood Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Sciences – Integrated Professional Studies from UNCG. I do know for sure that I get results and it’s not something that I brag about but it’s something that I take great joy in knowing that scholars leave better then they came. I take no credit but give God all the Glory. I also earned Teacher Of The Year for the year of 2023-2024 at the school I teach at.

My entrepreneurial spirit extends to creating professional flyers and advertisements to assist businesses and organizations in expanding their reach, a testament to her understanding of the struggles I faced when starting out. I didn’t have all the answers and knowledge however I knew what I liked and what I wanted to see. I begin to try things on my own and step by step I got better and I’m still getting better each day.

My mission is to inspire and uplift others, women, youth, young adults and honestly anyone that comes in contact with me in any shape or form. I hope to encourage them to recognize their self-worth, knowing who they are and whose they are in God. I passionately demonstrate my love for God and embrace my individuality, proving that it’s okay to be different and that everyone has the power to overcome and inspire.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

For me the the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is to see others better because of the God in me.

As I grew in who I was and what God has called me to do, whether it be for children within tutoring, young adults within inspiration, or anybody through my ministry of song, I learned that it had nothing to do with me but what God placed on the inside of me that he knew others needed.

I have so many testimonials of progress in school regarding tutoring, or help in pushing businesses and organization through flyers and videos etc, or even through my ministry of singing that a song was just what someone needed to hold on etc.

This alone brings me joy. Money is a plus but if I know that I’ve done the will of God and his name is glorified I know that I’m doing what I should be doing in life:

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson I had to unlearn was that I needed people’s approval to do what God called me to do. I had to really let this thing go. This is something that’s so common in which I know others are struggling with because they feel they won’t have the support and things they need. Thai worry alone will hold you back from lots of things. How do I know? Because it was once me being scared to take a leap of faith because of maybe thinking how many orders I’ll get or how many likes I’ll get. This held me back from so much. However unlearning this helped me to know when I have a “YES” from God everything else doesn’t matter. God will tear down everything that tried to stop what he needs me to do because HE DOESN’T PLAY ABOUT ME! It wasn’t until I stopped being scared of the opinions of others and took the leap of faith to launch my business, put out a song, or even a new shirt and flyers that I realized my greatest support came from people who I didnt even know. Everything you do is bigger than you and Theres people waiting on you to give them what they need.
