We were lucky to catch up with Ora Lockett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ora, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
In the early stages of my work, I focused primarily on selling products. Over time, I realized that the greater impact came not from the products themselves, but from creating content that challenges people to think differently—especially about natural alternatives to conventional health approaches. This shift is also reflected in the content I create on social media, where I focus less on promotion and more on thoughtful, educational messaging that encourages reflection, curiosity, and informed decision-making around natural health alternatives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Ora Lockett, and I am an author, wellness educator, and the founder of THE GR8FULL COMPANY—a purpose-driven brand rooted in education, gratitude, and holistic well-being. My work lives at the intersection of natural health, mindset, and intentional living, with a strong emphasis on helping people think critically about their health rather than simply follow trends.
How I Got into This Work:
My journey into natural health began long before it became a business. I spent years observing how people, especially within my community, struggled with chronic health concerns, stress, and imbalance, often feeling overwhelmed by conflicting information or disconnected from their own bodies. That curiosity led me to study natural health practices, holistic wellness, and the relationship between mindset, nutrition, and lifestyle.
Initially, my work focused more heavily on offering wellness products. Over time, however, I realized that products are most powerful when paired with understanding. That realization became a turning point. I shifted my focus toward education, helping people understand why natural alternatives matter and how to use them intentionally. This pivot shaped everything that followed.
What I Create & Offer:
Today, THE GR8FULL COMPANY www.gr8full.club blends education and natural products to support whole-body wellness. My offerings include:
• Published books that explore natural health, and self-awareness
• All-natural herbal supplements and teas designed to support balance and daily wellness
• Natural hair care products formulated with clean, nourishing ingredients
• Healing body butters created to restore and protect the skin using plant-based ingredients
• Educational social media content that encourages reflection, curiosity, and informed decision-making
Rather than pushing products for quick results, I focus on helping people understand the role natural solutions can play in long-term wellness. The books, content, and products work together—education first, products as supportive tools.
The Problems I Help Solve:
Many people feel disconnected from their health, unsure of what alternatives exist, or intimidated by wellness spaces that feel inaccessible or overwhelming. I help to solve that by:
• Making natural health education approachable and relatable
• Offering thoughtfully formulated products people can trust
• Encouraging personal responsibility and informed choice rather than dependency
At its core, my work helps people move from confusion to clarity—and from passive consumption to empowered living.
What Sets Me Apart:
What sets me apart is my reflective, education-centered approach. I don’t rely on fear-based marketing, exaggerated claims, or quick fixes. Everything I create, whether a book, a product, or a piece of content—is rooted in intention, integrity, and long-term well-being.
My brand invites people to pause, think, and reconnect with their bodies and values. That balance of education and natural products is what makes THE GR8FULL COMPANY distinct.
What I’m Most Proud Of:
I am most proud of the evolution of my work—from simply offering products to building a brand centered on education, empowerment, and sustainability. Hearing from readers and customers who say my books helped shift their mindset, or that my products supported healthier routines, reminds me why this work matters.
What I Want People to Know:
I want people to know that my work is grounded in care, honesty, and respect for individual journeys. I am not here to sell fear or promise miracles. I am here to provide knowledge, tools, and natural options that help people make choices aligned with their health and values.
If someone leaves my work feeling more informed, more intentional, and more confident in exploring natural health—then I’ve done exactly what I set out to do.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that the business itself is the goal. Early on, I believed success meant building the brand, moving products, growing revenue, and hitting measurable milestones. Like many entrepreneurs, I was focused on what the business was rather than what the business did.
The backstory behind this realization came from paying attention to the people I was serving.
In the beginning, I concentrated heavily on selling natural wellness products. I believed that if the products were good—and they were—then the impact would naturally follow. But over time, I noticed something meaningful: the most powerful conversations weren’t happening at the point of sale. They were happening in messages, comments, and one-on-one conversations where people asked why something worked, how to use it intentionally, or what changes they could make beyond a product.
That’s when I realized the real work wasn’t the business—it was the influence.
I had to unlearn the mindset that growth equals volume and replace it with the understanding that growth equals depth. A business is simply a vehicle. What matters is how that vehicle carries education, clarity, and empowerment to the people it reaches.
Once I shifted my perspective, everything changed. I stopped leading with “here’s what I sell” and started leading with “here’s what you should know.” The business became a platform for education, reflection, and conversation. My books, content, and products all began serving a larger purpose, helping people think critically about their health, exploring natural alternatives, and take ownership of their well-being.
What I do with business now is far more intentional. Every offering is filtered through questions like:
• Who does this help?
• What understanding does this create?
• How does this empower someone beyond the transaction?
The lesson I unlearned taught me that a business is not measured by what it produces, but by who it impacts and how it changes them. When the focus shifts from profit to purpose, the business doesn’t lose value it gains meaning.
That lesson continues to guide how I show up, what I create, and how I define success today.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting has been a constant in my life and in business. Early on, I had to release the idea that a pivot meant failure or inconsistency. I’ve learned that pivoting is simply responsiveness—to growth, to meaning, and to timing.
Building a brand from the ground up has taught me that business is never static. There are seasons when something suddenly becomes more meaningful—when your audience needs something different, when your values deepen, or when clarity sharpens. In those moments, pivoting isn’t optional; it’s necessary. Ignoring that shift would mean outgrowing the very people you’re meant to serve.
There have also been seasons where the most powerful move was to coast—to maintain, observe, and enjoy what had already been built. Not every phase requires pushing harder. Sometimes the work allows the brand to breathe, listening to feedback, and letting alignment catch up with momentum.
And then there are seasons when you must speed things up—when opportunity, energy, and purpose align. Those moments require decisiveness, courage, and trust in your instincts. Knowing when to accelerate and when to slow down has been one of the most valuable skills I’ve developed.
My biggest pivot came when I shifted from a product-centered business to an education-centered brand. That change didn’t abandon what I built—it refined it. The products remained, but they became tools within a larger mission: education, empowerment, and long-term wellness.
What I’ve learned is that pivoting isn’t about changing direction randomly, it’s about staying aligned. Business evolves because people evolve. Brands that last are the ones that adapt without losing their core.
Building something from the ground up is ever-changing. The key is not resisting the shifts, but embracing them—learning when to pause, when to accelerate, and when to simply enjoy the ride.
