We were lucky to catch up with Opinionated Media recently and have shared our conversation below.
Opinionated, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Well we first knew early on in our college years. Carlos reached out to me when I was in college and presented the idea of us starting a podcast. First it was going to be primarily a sports podcast, where me and Carlos would take our discussions on sports and present them for an audience. We would start to record immediately after I graduated from college. This would consist of us getting together at my parents house, learning the equipment and shooting content. Albert eventually would join us as our main camera man and editor. Once that happened, the rest was history.
Opinionated, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We got into the industry by foremost being passionate of what we loved at the times. This was sports, and we knew we could talk about it just like anyone that is on TV. We also knew a bunch of people through me and carlos expansive network, while wanting to tell the story of people starting something creative just like us. This is when we decided to bring the series Off-Topic to life. This would be a different podcast where we would talk about different things that weren’t related to our main source of content. We decided to rebrand to Opinionated Media. This would give us range to not only do podcast, but other creative forms of media which show our talent in other fields and gives us the ability to become a one stop shot for entertainment.
We had to learn over the past 4 years that discipline and consistency are the forefronts of content. You’re not always going to drop a piece of content that everyone loves, but you do need to be in the spot light and be seen. A friend once told me in one of our Slumps, “Whats a media company, without any media?”.
The craft and the services we provide are the ability to story tell for entrepreneurs. Media is one of the most important forms of currency, so being able to illustrate a product, or tell a story goes a long way.
We know what sets us apart is our organic nature, and being genuine. Which sounds like what anyone would say, but it’s super refreshing when we have these conversations/deliver these content pieces. Some people just want to talk or express themselves.
What im most proud of is being able to call this home. This is something we just talked about, and now being able to look at the flag and all of the guest we’ve had on it’s been sureal. So we are always internally grateful for the people and other creatives we have had in our life.
If you find our content and love it, we think this will be something that will be timeless and we’ll have reported on future stars that make it in their respective industry.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We have just built our presence on social media. This has been due to the fact that we have collaborated with other outstanding creatives, but always post real and genuine stuff. We aren’t pressing the process and we are truly enjoying it.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The rewarding aspect is thinking of an idea, like a seed. Planting it in the ground and getting to a certain point in life from it. We are starting to see the fruits of our labor, and there is no other better feeling.
