Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ophel Rose-Ramirez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ophel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
I feel some of the biggest trends currently in the beauty industry is “less is more. Minimalist and soft looks have been trending lately. These looks still take as much if not more time than their “full glam” styles but are just as stunning. I thin k it’s a huge misconception that the less makeup and styling it looks like you have that the beauty look is “Easier” or faster but its truly not. Thankfully most of my bridal and special event clients appreciate the attention and detail i create with my work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’ve always loved beauty. I was the girl who did her makeup in class and did everyone’s hair and makeup. Growing up I remember following all the trends for my friends and recreating the styles or makeup for them. I’m always grateful I knew early on that this would be the area I found success in.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media was a fun task that I still have a love/hate relationship with. As millennial I love social media for my personal life and sharing that part of me. For my business I’m pretty strategic when I can be. I started my on business social media and I keep all my followers updated pretty regularly. I always post my work and locations I travel to in the bridal beauty industry. My clients love seeing it and always mention it to me when U see them I always refer my clients to my page for beauty looks for their own wedding days.
My best advice for new hair and makeup artist wanting to specialize in on-location work or bridal work in the beauty industry is to have a actual business account. Create a simple website, simple booking system and add that all to your social media. it goes a long way in being professional look and also free advertising. I also recommend always posting your best work. It’s the best way to showcase yourself and less is always more when the few photos or videos you do have are your best work.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid definitely caused an impact on my career and my own life as well.
