We were lucky to catch up with OPHANIM recently and have shared our conversation below.
OPHANIM, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Our debut self-titled record is probably our most meaningful thing we’ve made so far, of our official releases. We wrote it mostly apart in different countries (we are from Canada and the USA), only putting on the finishing touches in person.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Carolyn Hyde & Jason Scott, an ethereal technowave duo. Both of us started as singer songwriters and transitioned later to electronic music. We both also got into music from early childhood. We are a studio project and live act. We create and perform our own original works. What sets us apart is our unique yet memorable sound – ethereal, otherworldly, grounding and familiar all at once. Our fans keep telling us our music takes them to another place, and that’s what we’re most proud of. We want our music to continue to enlighten and bring enjoyment to others.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
– Encourage each other in everyday life to listen to music, just for enjoyment – make it part of just being alive. – go past the mainstream music and be willing to check out the underground scene in their area.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
A lot of non-creatives have difficulty accepting that being a creator is a real job, even when just starting out and have a fanbase of 5, and deserve a livable wage just like any job. There is so much time and effort that goes into the craft that no one ever sees – all the practice/rehearsal/study hours, all the months/years spent developing a sound/aesthetic, planning and arranging life sets, travel and gear maintenance costs, late nights putting in overtime on mixes for official releases, and our basic needs as human beings so we can do our job in the first place.
