We recently connected with Onterio Cross and have shared our conversation below.
Onterio, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
As a father, Published author, a podcaster, a full-time caregiver for my mother battling Alzheimer’s, and a current MBA student, I embody the essence of risk-taking. Balancing these diverse responsibilities requires resilience and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. Through my podcast, caregiving, and academic pursuits, I continually seek out opportunities that others may perceive as obstacles. Each day, I am driven by the determination to chart new territories, fearlessly pushing boundaries in pursuit of personal and professional growth. In addition to these ventures, I am a published author of four books: “The Cursed Ones,” “The Cursed Ones 2,” “To Be Human,” and “Five Fear Is Vitality: 5 Key Strategies we use to Turn Your Fear into Strength.” These works delve into the human experience, offering insights and strategies to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and courage.
Onterio, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a multifaceted creative I’ve ventured into the world of storytelling through books as well as podcasting. My journey into podcasting stemmed from a deep passion for storytelling and sharing experiences. Through my podcast, I aim to provide a platform for authentic conversations and thought-provoking content. Simultaneously, I am a dedicated full-time caregiver for my mother, who battles Alzheimer’s, and I’m also a father. These roles have shaped my understanding of resilience and the human experience, driving me to share my insights with others. In addition to these responsibilities, I’m pursuing my MBA, seeking to expand my knowledge and skills. What sets me apart is my unwavering determination to take risks, embrace challenges, and turn them into opportunities. I’m most proud of my ability to juggle multiple roles while still pursuing my passions. Potential clients and followers should know that my work is driven by authenticity, empathy, and a relentless pursuit of personal and professional growth, aiming to inspire and connect with others through shared experiences and meaningful conversations. Furthermore, I am a published author of four books: “The Cursed Ones,” “The Cursed Ones 2,” “To Be Human,” and “Five Fear Is Vitality: 5 Key Strategies we use to Turn Your Fear into Strength.” These works delve into the human experience, offering insights and strategies to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and courage.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During a particularly challenging period, after my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and I had to take on the full responsibility of being her caregiver, I found myself on the brink of quitting my podcast. The stress and anxiety seemed insurmountable, and for a moment, I felt overwhelmed. However, my love for creativity and storytelling wouldn’t allow me to give up. Instead, I made the decision to bring my personal struggles to the show, sharing with my audience the difficulties I was facing. This decision turned out to be remarkably therapeutic. Not only did it provide a platform for me to express my experiences, but it also strengthened the bond with my audience. Sharing my challenges with them reinforced my confidence that despite the obstacles, continuing with the podcast was not just a passion but a calling. This experience further solidified my belief that my work was not just about creating content, but about connecting with others through shared experiences and meaningful conversations.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to connect with others on a profound level. Through creativity, whether it’s storytelling, podcasting, or any other form of expression, I have the opportunity to touch people’s lives, evoke emotions, and inspire them. The ability to create something that resonates with others and potentially makes a positive impact is incredibly fulfilling. Being able to share experiences, provoke thoughts, and foster a sense of community through creativity is truly gratifying and serves as a constant source of motivation.
