We were lucky to catch up with Onor Alofoje recently and have shared our conversation below.
Onor , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Many years ago when I just turned 10. I wrote a song for my grandma’s 70th birthday and performed it . I got a lot of gifts afterwards and people encouraged me to grow my talent.
Onor , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Princess OnorElla (popularly known as Princess Ella) I am an afrobeats artist, songwriter and producers. I’m also an IT professional. .I am originally from Edo state Nigeria but I live in the United States. I started singing and writing at the age of 10. I started singing in the church choir when I was a teenager.
I am a song writer, I love writing songs , I spend all my free time writing and recording songs. I have over 50 songs archived.
I released my first EP November 2020 and I’ve released a couple of successful singles after wards. Some of my songs have been in the top 100 New York and Germany songs on Audiomack.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to be known for my talent all over the world , to keep a legacy for my kids when I’m gone, to be the best in my career and everything I do, to attain the highest height.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In the past, I would write songs , record them and send them over to curators to approve for playlisting and all and 90% of the time my songs were rejected even with harsh words, I didn’t give up, I took their harsh words, the stones they threw at me and built a house with them stones.
