We caught up with the brilliant and insightful One7evenOne Productions a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
One7evenOne, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
We actually named our business after the first studio we ever filmed in… We got into filming by having a common interest in film. One day we decided to go half on a camera and just play around with it as a hobby. Around that time one of our close friends told us that she wanted to have her own cooking show and since we had a camera we made that our first project! We filmed it in Tamara’s kitchen and her address at the time was 171… So we decided to name our company One7evenOne Productions.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We both had backgrounds in the arts. She had some experience in music and photography and I had experience with those as well as graphic design. We both had a common interest in film, but had never filmed anything before so we went half on a camera and decided to figure it out together. Our initial thought was never to create a business out of our interest, but we were coerced into the idea by Tangie Beaty of WOW Productions. At the launch of our first project (Cooking and Looking Good with Dana B.), Tangie Beaty was one of the attendees and after seeing the show pilot she was convinced that she wanted us to film her stage play. We turned her down immediately, but she was persistent and eventually we agreed. Although that project seemed extremely difficult at the time we were able to make a DVD of her play “If You Only Knew Why I Struggle to Trust God”, that attained national distribution. Once we heard the feedback from the distributor regarding the quality of the project we deemed as “not perfect” we realized we were on to something! The first project with Tangie and WOW formed a creative partnership that is alive and thriving to this day!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We have recently come to the realization that we rarely take on easy projects. For example, our first limited series “Secrets in Plain Sight” that we created with WOW Productions, was filmed during the pandemic. We had never filmed a series before and had no clue how to go about the endeavor, much less how to do it during a pandemic! As one would expect, there were several issues we ran across. But we were all determined to create and complete the project safely and did so by pushing through the obstacles that came up. Every large project we have completed has built our confidence and helped us realize that through persistence, with prayer and at times tears, we can accomplish any goal.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing visions come to life. Whether it is our own or someone else’s. Being able to bring ideas to life in a tangible form that one can see, feel, touch, is truly a gift we do not take for granted and are grateful for the opportunity to partner with so many individuals as we birth ideas from seed form to fruition.
