Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omarray Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Omarray, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I remember years ago when I was about 5 or 6 years old I watched disney xd every single day. My favorite show was Lab Rats and you wouldn’t be able to get me away from that screen for hours once that show came on. There was one day I was watching the show and it clicked, “I want to be on this show.” I knew it was the job for me. I didn’t even care about the money I just wanted to be on TV. I wanted to meet the actors I wanted to do all those stunts they did, I wanted to wake up everyday and record an episode. I remember that feeling like it was yesterday.

Omarray, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Omarray Lee, AKA LilYūgen. I am an actor and an artist. My stage name “LilYūgen” came from me wanting a unique name, something that stood out when you heard it. Something I could explain during interviews. The word “Yūgen” is a profound awareness in the universe that brings out feelings which are too deep to be explained. I’ve been releasing music independently since 2020, and I’ve recently tried to wiggle my way into the acting industry.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
In all honesty I don’t understand what the hype was about. It’s recently started to die out, but I don’t understand why people were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on digital pictures that anyone could have made in a couple hours. But I guess in this day and age anything can become a trend.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The freedom of being yourself. You don’t have to limit yourself to societal norms. You can truly be you. Even as an actor when I’m not being me I still feel as though I’m being myself. It’s really hard to explain, it’s one of those, “You just had to be there” things. A lot of people only see these things as possible cash grabs but I often don’t even think about the profit it’s just a true passion I have for the arts.
