We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Omaria “Mushy” White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Omaria “Mushy”, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Omaria is the 11 year old CEO of Mushy Madness. Her mission is to show kids that being unique is always best. Never blend in, always stand up and stand out. The products she sell are always bright and colorful because basic is boring!!! A little bit of Madness is ok. She calls her friends and fans MAD Squad because she wants everyone to always be Motivated by something and Determined to be the best them they can be.

Omaria “Mushy”, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Mushy Madness has been in business for 3 years. Mushy started the business with the help of her mom just making charm bracelets. Then because of her love of purses and she started selling trendy handbags for girls. Instead of keeping up with the trends, Mushy wanted to create a signature bag that she could make her own. That’s when the “Clear Cut Collection” was introduced. It is a collection of clear yet colorful Fanny packs, back pack purses and even sleepover bags. Each back pack purse and sleepover bag comes with a Mushy Madness logo keychain.

Mushy is 11 but is very motivated and determined to be a famous supermodel. Modeling is her first love and passion. She walked the runway in her first fashionshow at the age of 7 and has loved it since. Her sleepover bags were inspired by the need of her always having to pack a model bag for rehearsals or shows. Each sleepover bag has a saying written on it inspired by one of her closest friends. The sleepover bag can be used for any occasion. Mushy is also a hip hop dancer and also uses them as a dance bag.

Mushys biggest accomplishment is that at the beginning of 2022 at the age of 10, she became a published author writing her first book under her business name, Mushy Madness presents “Reckless Runway”. Her book is being sold online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This is the first of many fictional books to come for Mushy. As a bonus to her fictional book Mushy also came out with a children’s journal which she sells on her own website www.mushymadness.com

Omaria is just your not so average kid who loves having fun and who is making the best out of life. Whatever dream she has her parents always try to nurture it. “The world is so big and you have to know that there is so much out there than what’s just in your backyard,” Omarias mom always says.

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?

We use different sources to sell. Mushy Madness has its own official site and instagram www.mushymadness.com that is where we sell all Mushy Madness merchandise. We also use the site to connect with Omarias modeling agencies to book her for business. The only way she can get booked is through her agent or management team. This is to make sure everything is legit. Her fictional book is only sold online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. We like it that way because it was easier and more convenient instead of paying for so many up front copies of her book and trying to keep track of inventory and shipping. Amazon and Barnes &Noble does all that for us.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Social media can be a little difficult and overwhelming at times. Mushy does not run her social media because she is a kid and her parents want to keep her brand as professional and trendy and fun as they can. Her social media started to grow and is continuing to grow because of who she is. She get the most views on post when she is doing what she loves and being genuine, modeling and dancing. What people love to see is what we post for her age group. My biggest advice for social media is to make it fun, don’t over think it and post you at your best doing what you love.
